Alex Song believes Arsenal's display in the 3-1 win over Chelsea on Monday night was positive in every area, and hopes the team will learn from it.

Arsenal worked hard and defended well to finally win a game against one of the so-called big teams, with Song giving a fine midfield display.

The Cameroon international believes manager Arsène Wenger got the tactics right on the night and helped inspire the team to victory.

He explained: "We are very happy tonight because we did very well. Before the start of the game we didn't want the same story because everyone was saying how when we play against good teams we don't do well but today we showed we can and we like it when we play like we did today.

"The boss always trusts us for the job. Before the game the boss said to be ready for ninety minutes, if you show in the first minute that we are strong and compact we can win the game. Also to give the ball sharp and quick and by that we can score anytime. That's what we did today, we did very well, we attacked and defended together.

"We need to learn from this game for the future because we have more games coming up. Everyone now knows that we are ready for the fight for the league this year because this is very important for us."

Song gave the Gunners the lead with his fifth strike of the season, and the midfielder says he is happy that he has added goal-scoring to his game.

He added: "All the time when I go in the box I just try to score. I think Samir gave me the ball, I played one-two with Jack, the ball ended on my left foot, I had a good opportunity to shoot and I scored. That's very important, we know everyone can score anytime in the team."
