Diaby injury could mean early Ramsey return

Arsène Wenger says he will not be extending the loan of Welsh midfielder Aaron Ramsey beyond the 3rd of January.

The 20-year-old has been sent out for a temporary move to Championship outfit Nottingham Forest to regain some match fitness after nine months out with injury.

Wenger regrets that Ramsey has not played as much for Forest as he'd hoped, mostly due to the cancellation of a few games because of the recent snow.

But due to another injury setback for Abou Diaby, Wenger feels he will need Ramsey back the club sooner.

The boss explained: "We did not get the number of games we wanted from him because of the snow. He is a snow victim and we are as well consequently.

"But I am not tempted to do it [extend his loan]. If Abou Diaby was not injured I would certainly have considered it but not now.

"Aaron is not completely ready yet [for the Premier League] but he has been practising every day with the group for two months. I hope that when he comes back he should be ready in February."

These numerous injury worries in the middle of the park don't seem to have tempted the Frenchman into the transfer market, at least not yet.

He added: "I don't say no and at the moment I say we are not close to signing anybody."
