Walcott: Fourth isn't good enough

Walcott: Fourth isn't good enough

Arsenal and England winger Theo Walcott says it is disappointing for the club to finish the season in fourth place in the Premier League.

The Gunners, aided by 13 goals from Walcott, were challenging on four fronts for much of the season, and found themselves comfortably ahead of the likes of Chelsea and Man City in the league.

However, some poor end-of-season form saw Wenger's side slip out of the automatic Champions League places, as well as finishing empty-handed for the sixth season in a row.

Walcott was pleased to have had his most productive season for the team, but believes next year silverware has to be delivered.

He said: "I had the best season I've had in a long time.

"I have scored a lot of goals and got more assists.

"As a team we weren't able to perform to our abilities in the last few games. We should have got third but it was just snatched away from us.

"We have only got ourselves to blame on that front. We have to win trophies but there have been signs there, and I think we can do it next season.

"We have to show people and our fans especially that we want to win things.

"You have to do that a big club like Arsenal. It has been a long time since we won anything and we know how disappointing that is for the fans."
