The Premier League will hand Arsenal a special trophy for finishing unbeaten last season in the home game against Middlesbrough next week. The Premier League considered presenting the trophy to Arsenal at Goodison Park, the opening game for Arsenal this season but felt it would be more appropriate to hand it to the record-breakers in front of their own fans.
Posh jeweller Asprey's were commissioned during the summer to make a special half-size replica of the Premiership trophy and the Premier League will present it to Patrick Vieira before next weekend's game against Middlesbrough at Highbury.
The trophy has been inscribed with the words 'Arsenal - Champions 2003-2004, played 38, won 26, drawn 12, lost 0".
It also lists, in alphabetical order, each of the 19 other Premiership sides who failed to beat the Gunners last season.
Arsenal will be given the trophy - which has a gold body and silver handles - before kick-off and Ray Parlour, now at Boro, will be invited to take part in the pre-match presentation.
"We will be making a special presentation to Arsenal before their game against Middlesbrough as recognition of their outstanding achievement - it will be a long time before something like that is done again."
Sour grape Ferguson, who claimed we never played like champions can only look in envy as this is one trophy he might never get while we can still aim for the treble in future seasons to come - with our Galatickids groomed and ready.
