Patrick Vieira, who played superbly in the Aston Villa match, is very unlikely to make it for Arsenal's Champions League trip to Panathinaikos after picking up an injury in the win over Aston Villa.
The captain was forced to be substituted, following a bad challenge from Jlloyd Samuel and Le Boss is worried by the ankle injury.
"He is limping quite badly and has a sprained ankle," said Wenger. "He's a strong boy, so I still hope he will recover. But it looks to me like he could be short for Wednesday."
Wenger admits it would be a major blow to lose Vieira for the UEFA Champions League clash in Greece.
"It's a big game for us on Wednesday as well, because the team want to do well in the Champions League," added Wenger.
"It's a long way to travel. But it's simple - if there's a risk I won't take it. But if the medical staff say he can play I will play him."
