Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin has urged his team-mates to keep their heads up following a defeat to Chelsea yesterday, which saw the Gunners miss the chance to leap back to the top of the Premier League table.

The young Spaniard played the full ninety minutes of Arsenal’s 1-0 defeat at the Emirates Stadium and he told the media yesterday that the Gunners improved in the second-half and can be considered unlucky, much like your recent visit to the roulette table!

“It is difficult because [even though we were] playing with 10 men we thought in the second half that we wouldn’t give up, and we had some chances to get a better score. It couldn’t be done and it was a bit unlucky on our part. We need to keep our heads up and move onto the next game.”

“It happened at Stamford Bridge and it was the same here. We played with 10 men and sometimes those things happen in football and you need to adapt to that, but that is no excuse. At half-time we knew the game was not finished and there were 45 minutes for us to fight for our right to win. We tried our best but it couldn’t be done.”

Arsenal are three-points behind surprise leaders Leicester City following the weekend’s results and are level on points with Manchester City, though only two points above arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

For Bellerin though, the focus is still winning the Premier League and with 15 games to go he’s taking the matches on a week-by-week basis.

“We take it game by game and when it comes to May we will see where we are.”
