Striker Nicklas Bendtner has revealed that he would be considering his future at the club in the summer, due to the lack of playing time in the first team.

The Danish international has played mostly as a substitute this season, struggling to make his way up into manager Arsène Wenger’s preferred first choice partnership.

Wenger has often preferred to play new summer signing Marouane Chamakh, and when World Cup finalist Robin van Persie returned from injury, he was also put into the first team.

It’s difficult to argue with van Persie’s inclusion in the squad, but with Chamakh undergoing a dry spell, it’s not clear why Bendtner hasn’t started more games.

I’m a fan of the Dane, acknowledging that he has scored more than his fair share of important goals.

But Bendtner insists that he remains focused on helping Arsenal on all four trophy hunts this season, and that any decisions about his future at the club will only be made after the season has ended.

He said: “I will play this season to the end as an Arsenal player and then make a decision on my status in the summer.

“If I’m still happy then I stay, otherwise we must see what will happen. I mean that I’m good enough to be in the line-up."
