The national team managers of Santi Cazorla and Lukas Podolski believe that summer moves to Arsenal have improved the pair as players.

The Spaniard, signed from Malaga, and the German, signed from Cologne, have both started their careers in North London in fantastic form, earning praise from fans and pundits alike for what they have added to what was a struggling Arsenal team last year.

While these transfers have clearly benefited the Gunners, Spain manager Vicente del Bosque believes he has seen an improvement in Cazorla as well since the move to the Premier League.

He said: “As with Cesc Fabregas, some players who go and play for foreign clubs improve on a cultural level.

“It makes them grow on many levels; intellectually, because you have to learn a new language and adapt to another culture, and on a footballing level too.

“For example, I’m delighted Santi Cazorla has left to go and work with Arsène Wenger at Arsenal. He will become a better footballer and a more complete man.”

Germany coach Joachin Low echoed these words, saying of Podolski: “I always said it would be a good move for him. I think the progress he is making at Arsenal is very positive.

“He always has such a positive energy about him and is benefiting from his experiences with Arsenal.”
