Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has issued a rallying cry to his team-mates following a fourth Premier League game without a win, stating the poor run of form doesn’t matter.

The Gunners slipped to fourth in the Premier League standings with a goalless draw against Southampton last night, in an evening of football that saw Arsenal the only side in the top six not to emerge victorious.

However, speaking to the media after the game, Cech suggested the result’s importance wasn’t significant in the title race and urged the Gunners to continuing fighting to achieve the maximum points possible.

“You need to look at the end and you need 86/87 points to be sure and it does not matter which way you go to get those points. It does not matter if you have to catch up at the end of the season, which is what we have to do. Every time you lose points you need to keep believing.”

“The boring part is if you play for 0-0 you have no chance. When you create chance after chance on another day you might score six goals and it might be different. We need to get ready for Sunday and get those points back.”

Cech’s aim of securing 87 points means Arsenal require 32 points from the final 14 games of the Premier League season, which means the Gunners need to be targeting at least ten league wins between now and the end of the season.

With crucial games against Leicester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur to come in the next six weeks, it’s a stern test for Arsenal but one that Cech believes the side can overcome.
