Injury prone English midfielder Jack Wilshere looks to have an uncertain future at the Emirates. It is unclear what position he could play, as there is a lot of competition in Arsenal’s midfield.

Francis Coquelin’s emergence certainly hasn’t helped Jack’s cause. However, with him still only being 23-years-old he still has time on his side, but he desperately needs a decent run of games.

Since his first-team debut back in 2008, he has made 95 appearances and scored five goals. The amount of appearances would have been much more, if not for his time spent on the sidelines. Despite him representing Arsenal almost 100 times his best position is not obvious, as the way he plays is a risk. His iconic runs from midfield could either leads to us scoring a goal or to conceding one if he loses possession. His playing style also makes him susceptible to being the recipient of last ditch tackles from the opposition , this is why he has suffered many ligament and ankle injuries.

Once again this season he has been out of the team for long periods. Since last November, he has been on the sidelines after injuring his ankle ligaments in the defeat against Man United. Arsene Wenger most recently commented on Jack’s progress in the press conference prior to the Newcastle game, he said the midfielder was two to three weeks away. Arsenal fans will hope he is not another Abou Diaby with him being constantly injured. If he can remain injury free for a sustained length of time Wilshere can be a great asset to the club but he may not be a regular starter for Arsenal for the time being – will he accept that?
