Reported Arsenal target Gabriel Paulista is at a good age with him being 24-years-old. Villarreal have only conceded 17 goals this season, so the club has one of the sturdiest defences in La Liga and it is this sort of defensive consistency that Arsenal have been looking for.

Paulista is versatile as, although he is predominantly right-footed, he is also able to play at left-back; he is also pacey, strong in the air and powerful. These attributes have been missing at times this season for Arsenal.

The Brazilian’s importance to the ‘Yellow Submarines’ can be demonstrated by their current 15-game unbeaten run. This has also coincided with their recent climb up the league table.

He has been quoted in the media saying he would be very happy if he joined Arsenal. Arsene Wenger has spoken openly in the press about this proposed transfer, and appears confident of it being completed.

The only negative Arsenal might find, is that it will be difficult to get him a work permit. This is because he is yet to appear for his country, despite his raw but undoubted talent.

Gabriel is a talented player and looks to be a good prospect for Arsenal with his versatility, pace and power but he is still inexperienced on the international stage. He has been impressive this season, however, he is not yet the finished product. As with Krystian Bielik, Gabriel Paulista is somewhat a bit of a gamble by the Le Professeur but he has proven himself more consistently than the youngster from Poland.
