Arsenal teenage sensation Francesc Fabregas has said that Arsène Wenger should take the plaudits for masterminding yet another positive result over a European giant.

The young Spanish midfielder has caused quite a sensation in the footballing world with his eye for a clever pass and his ability to get forward and assist in the attack.

And he’s only 18-years of age.

Fabregas said: "The team deserve a lot of credit.

"Nobody expected us to do this, that is true, but now we have shown those people to be wrong.

"At a big club like Arsenal with a big manager, it is always difficult to believe in young players. But he did and we have to thank him for what he is giving us.

"It is not easy when you want to win things and you start to build a team with the likes of me, Philippe [Senderos], Gaël [Clichy] and Mathieu [Flamini]. He has done it and had confidence in us.

"We are really grateful to him because he is giving us the opportunity that we did not expect before.

"But we are in the semi-final and now we have to be professional. As well we must look forward to the game with Manchester United [on Sunday] if we are gong to get that fourth place.”
