The father of Lyon’s Nebil Fekir has been quoted by the Daily Star as saying his son will join Arsenal once his time at Lyon is up. Arsenal have been linked with the Algerian star for a few months now, with the young playmaker making headlines in France.

Fekir scores and creates and is seen as an ideal replacement for some of Arsenal’s aging midfield stars. Arsenal were given a boost in their pursuit by the player’s father, who made it clear his son intends to join Arsene Wenger’s troops.

“Nabil would like to finish 1st or 2nd and play Champions League football with Lyon,” Fekir senior said.

“If he leaves, it’ll be for Arsenal. It’s the only club that can enable him to progress, with Arsène Wenger.

“He will not go to Manchester City to sit on the bench.”

As clear an indication as they come and Wenger will be boosted by this news if indeed he is interested in pursuing the player. Arsenal have no real need for him now, but things look to be in place for a future swoop for his services.
