As any football fan has found out by now, transfers in football don’t always go as planned. From the big names to the lesser known, you just ultimately never know how a player will respond to his new surroundings, ensuring an interesting spectate to watch unfold.

Then of course there is the downright bizarre signings. Every club has completed their fair share of these. You know; the unknown, unproven, usually cheap player from a lower league somewhere who possesses raw talent and “much potential” according to the manager. As fan, you hold out hope for the chance that this player can miraculous develop into a world beater. If you are lucky, he does just that. Other times though, he simply doesn’t.

Arsenal are certainly no stranger to the bizarre signing, with quite a few new faces leaving fans scratching their heads. The list of players to join Arsenal from the depth of obscurity goes on and on, but let’s have a look at 5 of the most bizarre.
