Arsenal legend Martin Keown has heaped praise on Jack Wilshere after his impressive displays in England’s last two matches. Keown has lauded Wilshere’s play making ability, labeling the player as “supremely talented.”

Wilshere was the man of match against Slovenia, bossing the match from midfield. He deserves much credit for Rooney’s penalty, after beating his marker and playing the ball to the United man. He continued his form yesterday against Scotland, setting up Chamberlain with a sublime lofted ball for the opener.

Keown was impressed, and took to his column in the Daily Mail to share his thoughts.

“England need to get Jack Wilshere on the ball more. He’s our playmaker and is supremely talented and England weren’t looking for him enough against Scotland. When they did finally get him on the ball, we saw with the goal just what he is capable of.”

He went on to say that Wilshere himself should also do more to get on the ball despite Hodgson employing him in a deeper role.

“But Wilshere is partly to blame too. He was sometimes standing in positions where he couldn’t receive the ball that easily from his team-mates.”

“He needs to work harder to find the space so the rest of the team can get him on the ball in dangerous positions.”

Wilshere is still learning the holding role, being that he is used to playing higher up the pitch for Arsenal. His form has been exceptional this far and seems to be still improving. His England form bodes well for Arsenal, and he looks really in the mood at the moment (as do all the England lads for that matter).

If he, as well as Welbeck and Chamberlain and Walcott, plays like that on Saturday, United will up for a very long day.
