Despite only just returning for another spell in charge of Serie A outfit Inter Milan – having been sacked by Galatasaray – Roberto Mancini has told Corriere dello Sport he would love to be Arsenal manager: “I would have loved to have managed Arsenal, a club with a special charm. But there is still time,”

With fan tension rising and speculation continuing to mount around Arsene Wenger’s suitability for Arsenal, a whole host of names are being linked with the Gunners managerial hotseat – none more so than tonight’s opposition manager Jurgen Klopp.

Would Mancini’s name really be in the hat if the Arsenal board did decide to part ways with Arsene before his contract expired? Hmm, probably so (although I’m not sure he’d ever really be a strong candidate despite delivering Manchester City’s first Premier League title).

The Italian, who celebrates his 50th birthday tomorrow, did also say that: “Where do I see myself at 60? As coach of the Italian national team.” which suggests Roberto may not be the man to implement the longevity plan the board will no doubt hope to maintain after Wenger’s exit.
