Arsenal target Isco to be 'the new Cesc Fabregas'
Isco has shot to the top of Arsenal's list of transfer targets and boss Arsène Wenger is preparing to lodge a bid for the midfielder.
The Malaga man is valued at £8million and is likely to be available as the Spanish side continue to sell players to ease their financial crisis.

Santi Cazorla has already left Malaga to join the Gunners this summer and now it seems the 20-year-old, who has been dubbed the 'new Cesc Fabregas', could follow suit.
Wenger is known to be an admirer of the young midfielder, Caught Offside reports, and wants to add him to a squad that also boasts new signings Cazorla, Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud.
Malaga spent heavily last summer under their Qatari owners and their investment was rewarded with a Champions League place, but the expenditure seems to have caught up with them and they must now offload star players.
Isco made 32 appearances for the club last season and played a key role in Manuel Pellegrini's side finishing fourth in La Liga.
That has alerted Wenger, who is still keen to add to his squad as he faces the prospect of losing both Robin van Persie and Alex Song before the transfer window slams shut.

that seems like a bargain price, all things considered, but until we start shipping people out, do we have room in the 25 man squad for him?

I hesitated to start a thread on the basis of the most reputable source linking us to him being the Metro, but it would be good to have a place to discuss the merits or otherwise of bringing him in.

Pros: talent, price

Cons: do we need another AM? No serious links

I have to say I'd rather we were putting in bids of this nature for promising defensive reinforcements (talents on their way up) who are a bit of a risk because of their price, but could pay it back in spades.

I'm still hoping we get a DM in this bracket (whatever happened to Capoue?). I don't think right now another creative AM is the priority.

Bit of Google research reveals only that he wants out from Toulouse, he's still being linked to us (and Sp**s) and that he's just been picked for the French national team ahead of M'Vila. Transfer stories are 6 days old or more.

Didn't think it was worth bumping the Capoue thread for, but in case anyone's interested.

We have more pressing needs than another AMC, especially a young and unproven one.

Buying Isco or somebody similar would probably mean Wenger wants Cazorla out wide, which I hope will never happen.

You're 1 injury from Cazorla away from being as crap as last season at the AM spot.

The only other position you could use a player more in is probably RB and DM. And at the £8m price, you could get 1 or maybe even 2 additional players in.

Not comfotable with more stealing Malaga but oh well.

He's no new Cesc Fabregas, that's for sure.. Decent player though.

Highly rated talent - moreso than Eisfeld,
and aged only 20 = no need to register in the 25 man squads this season.

If we signed him it would likely mean no Goetze & raises further questions re Wilshere's position.
That said we could still play a narrow 3 of Wilshere, Cazorla & Isco.

Would love him here, great talent but he's more similar to Silva/Cazorla then he is to Cesc. He can also play out wide which is a plus so we can keep Podolski up top most games. The only thing is he's about 2 years away from being tapped up by Barça/Madrid, so that's something to be prepared for.

Where is this 8million figure coming from?

Teams rarely value their players specifically prior to concrete approaches.

8 Million seems too cheap to be true plus should imagine he'll get numerous offers at that price.

Would love him here but wondering where he would play? We are pretty stocked in MF and to be honest, I think we are more in need of a DM than a AM.

Still wouldn't say no at that price though. Feel sorry for Malaga but if he needs to be sold then if we don't buy him then someone else will.

Dont know anything about this player but if he is ready to come in and play then Im happy enough with that. We can never have enough good players in the squad especially with the uncertainty around Wilshere.

This guy is a supreme talent - although I really can't see Malaga selling him. If Cazorla was their Van Persie, Isco is their Wilshere.

Here's a nice vid of Isco last season if you want an idea of his game: <a class="postlink" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_z4nyJyZoNQ" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_z4nyJyZoNQ</a>

but Holding’s hair transplant was painless
Cazorla, Rosicky, Ramsey, Wilshere, Diaby, Eisfeld, Oxlade. Clearly no way we will sign Isco
