Leicester City: Another FFP Victim

Careful @Rimaal, you'll be telling us next that it's money spent that correlates well with finishing position.

Hope things are getting better for you btw, after a rough few days.:(

There's a crucial difference between money spent, and money deliberately and obstinately not spent.

Life goes on, darling, and we get on with it the best we can. Thank you so much for asking.

You're missing the point. Leicester's odds were long for winning the league, not for an individual game.

38 games is not a large statistical sample. Particularly if the ref gives you a chance for a free goal in 13 of them. Think Arsenal scored one penalty last season.

Football is a lot more complex than horse racing that's for sure. The principle of odds, and how they work, is the same though, whether it's football, racing, stock market or in the casino.

Long odds rarely occur and short odds do so more frequently. Ranieri was never going to change that basic law of mathematics. He fluked a win one year. He was always going to fail this year and revert to where they were the year before. It's simple,

Ranieri was on a roller coaster he couldn't control ffs. Just like Wenger whose on a different roller coaster.

As an Arsenal fan, I want Arsenal to win the title.

As a football fan, I want Leicester to win it.

Throughout the season, I have seen them as underdogs, and nothing more. Cool, they are an over-achieving side. But when I watched the game vs Manchester City, I saw what I haven't seen in football in ages. At least, not at that scale.

The way they not only beat, but dominated Man City was beautiful. In all their plays, I saw desire. All players on Leicester's team ran their asses off and worked that extra mile because they wanted to win. They wanted the title. This wasn't their job, this was their dream and passion. This side was worth peanuts, Man City's was worth a fortune. Yet on display was proof that money is killing the game. Man City's pampered players, created by passion but worked into a "job" mindset, gave no ****s. Demichelis and the like are just happy to be in the team to earn a great living, and fought for nothing, which led to their loss. For every ounce of effort Man City gave, Leicester gave double, or even triple that. And all that effort was put towards the team's success, and not their own. It was more than the game that made me pro-Leicester though, it was the interviews after. Ranieri and Co. are such a humble bunch, there because they want to be. The lack of pressure on them to succeed has enables them to maintain a positive attitude throughout all their matches, all their caring devoted to: working hard. Mahrez is an amazing talent, but remains grounded in his ambition. For him, it's about playing with love, and not for the paycheck. The statement that would be made if they were to win would be massive, and a big **** you to the TV deals that floods undeserving people with money.
 Gem of a post.

There is a difference and they need to spend it, new manager or not.

In hindsight, Leicester winning did absolutely nothing to return some purity into the game. Had it, I'd still stand by the main point of my "ridiculous" post.

Nobody really gives a **** about the way money is ruining football, it's a shame...

I wanted Leicester to win if we couldn't because - it was funny that United and Chelsea were nowhere near, Tottenham imploded - again, City think they are so great, but we were ahead of them. Liverpool, pah. Just a shame we didn't win it.:(

Jose Mourinho says his sacking by Chelsea was peanuts compared to Ranieri's and if it's true the players had asked for His sacking(Ranieri's) then for how long did they feel this way and did that effect their own results for that period when they were not thoroughly invested in him.

When an outsider wins a horse race you can describe it how you like, 'an incredible achievement' if you want. But we all know it's because the horse get's lucky. Otherwise it wouldn't be an outsider ffs

And do you know what, the next race it loses and why is that, because it's an :drool:outsider.
This is not the first time you've used a horseracing analogy very badly, and this wont be the first time I've told you off for it. Stop it! You clearly only ever see horses run once a year at Aintree ffs!

League is very weak
Ranieri was lost and all at sea this season once the opposition has prepared for a champion Leicester team.

He had no answers, other than asking his boys to show they are gladiators.

A premier league legend though, and a nice guy, this sacking doesn't do him too much harm.

Don't know why though, it p*sses me off that the rich 3 have bought titles for themselves for the last 13 years. Chelsea and Man C were nothing before 2004.

It's understandable, but sad all the same. Players moving for the best wages, clubs winning because someone gave them money... and worst of all it happened when we were at our lowest financially. Not to give Arsenal excuses because we have been able to compete recently, but the money being pumped into our rivals pockets is really annoying. And it's not just them, money is flying everywhere atm and it has made the sport ridiculous. It has eliminated the love many had playing football and made it a job. Again, that's understandable, but it's depressing to see.
