His absence has obviously been linked to the security threat. The club declare him sick to not draw negative attention and press, feeding back in to precisely one of the contributing problems and creating a bigger side show.

His family were moved away. This is a pretty traumatic thing to happen. Honestly Arsenal have some of the worst fans sometimes, and there's a big ****ing glut of them in this thread like moths to a flame.

He’s still a good player to have at the club, strength in depth is needed to compete on all fronts. We know he is better than what he showed last season.

No, it's not obvious at all. You're just making stuff up to suit your own narrative. He was in the stadium... The club could have said he had a strain of some sort. They didn't have to say he was 'sick'. It all points to the truth, but so what anyway? Why would anyone not want to believe a guy who has a terrible 'sick' record, was sick?

Why would he be in the stadium. Why was Kola in the squad?

Given the amount of times his been ‘sick’ it draws more attention, not less.

So what exactly do you think happened?

Why pull a sickie if you're at the stadium anyway, I doubt he doesn't want to play? Maybe he just gets sick a lot? If anything he does look like quite a sickly person.

The outrage over him being ill (innocent unless proven guilty) is weird. Almost ten pages and he hasn't even kicked a ball.

Oh he's ability is negated by his wage? I didn't realise it worked like that.

Let’s say he’s earned approx 80 million since he was awarded his new contract. What have we got for that? Against Leicester last season he was sublime - this is what Özil can do.

Now ask yourself, since the new contract, how many times has he delivered anything in that ballpark of that performance. Hopefully now you can understand why people are constantly conflating his wages with the prolonged lack of form.

No, he has rarely shown his ability of late. He’s a vert expensive “luxury” player with a big name, capable of a great, silky performance that he now rarely produces. I love it when he’s on m, he’s capable of playing the most beautiful football. But football is cost vs benefit. We sacrifice bringing in a more consistent performer at a high wage while Özil is a passionless passenger.

Anxiety is a sickness too...

He's got stuff going on outside of football. Not being in the right mindframe because of it is perfectly legitimate.

Just because he's had a lot of illness doesn't mean you shouldn't view what's going on at the moment in context.

Heartless b*stards the lot of ya :bounce:

That’s a separate debate.

Bringing up his wages in response to somebody talking about his qualities on the pitch just makes no sense.

There is no link between player wages and their ability. None. It’s just a pre-agreed amount of remuneration.

The specifics of that single post about “eating up 350k” is slightly different - its a statement borne out of frustration, not an expression of logical facts about a link between remuneration and ability. The big picture is an agenda driven by poor return on our outgoings. The individual would not have posted if Özil was playing anywhere more consistently and the issue is rooted in a poor return on our 80million output since Jan 2018 as I stated.

I’m sure every single poster here wants Özil to have a good season.
