With the transfer window recently opened, we are transitioning into the new season (due to start the 13th of August).

How will we do? Is it reasonable to expect the title?

I predicted our finish correctly every season I've been on A-M with this account. So you all better listen up. Sadly, I won't be making my prediction just yet, I think I may make it a couple of weeks before the season starts. Need to see what we do in the remainder of this window.

Well, it's hard to judge where I think Arsenal will finish due to not knowing what signings teams make, is what I meant.
That is why I made votes changeable. It'll be interesting to see how opinions may change across the summer...

I also changed the title up to suit at what point we are in the cycle. I'll change it to "Race To ___" when the games begin.

A thread for next season is plenty relevant, I don't see the fuss besides myself being the maker.

As all the teams strengthen, we can start to visualize where we stand. There will also be news coming out over time (ie schedule, branding...) that has a home here. Probably more I haven't thought of as well.

What I expect: a similar season to the last three, perhaps coming close in a couple of cups and finishing 2-4.

What I hope for: everything clicks and we win the league, win/runner-up in a cup and get to semi-final of the CL.

  1. Sunderland splash the cash for almost a whole new team this summer.
  2. Disastrous start. Sit bottom after 5 game with just 1 point.
  3. Form doesn't pick up and player unrest starts. The team can't score goals and half can't understand English.
  4. Big Sam is sacked with the club bottom nearing November.
  5. Almost three weeks later after failing to agree terms with Van Gaal (the club have distanced themselves from all acts of sexual nature to the dismay of the Dutchman) enter David William Moyes.
  6. Results pick up. Clean sheets come. New manager syndrome? Can it last?
  7. No. Sunderland lose crucial back to back games heading into the new year.
  8. Knowing he needs to add fight to his team Moyes rings an old friend.
  9. Sunderland sign Marouane Fellaini for club record £19m.
  10. Fellaini shines on debut as Utd are dumped out of the FA Cup.
  11. By March they've steadily closed the gap. Survival looks close.
  12. Sunderland win at Old Trafford securing survival and ending Utd's Europa League hopes. Mourinho is sacked.
  13. Sunderland finish 14th. Moyes talks about how he can do a Utd and take them to 7th.
  14. Sunderland splash the cash for almost a whole new team in the summer.

Honestly, it is hard to judge as it is early as mentioned by others, however, I always go into the season optimistic and aiming for 1st so it's the same this year for me.
