Irish, I see you've applied to take over a new team, but maybe Clrnc is right and that mo50's will be stronger. I can almost guarantee it will be stronger and it should have more money too. Hargreaves, Tarrant, and Woodhouse are all quite good and the 25 year olds too. It's old in places (esp. midfield) and the GKs need a re-vamp. You can change the name of the team etc.

Anyway, I turned that one down so you can decide which you'd prefer.

OK, so we're set up. It starts Thursday, the 19th. I normally do a 10-day spread, but we've been off for a while as it is.

Interesting 1st round. I was lucky to win against Souf - could easily have been 3-1 against me - and Smartly's gone AWOL (hope he's OK) and his team got spanked, not surprising. Clrnc and Naz strong as expected.

Shocking result. A combination of underestimating the managerless opponent along with chucking all my weaker players backfired. Ugh.

Pretty much everyone will get one over SD11 at the moment; no idea how Souf managed to get hammered like that.

Haha, whoops. Didn't realise I was playing him when I said that. Should've kept my jinxing trap shut.

That's the thing with this game though, Ron, it likes to **** with you from time to time. My goalkeeper had a conveniently crap game (christ they all did), I had a disallowed goal that would have made it 3-1, I then had a red card (playing normal with a ref with H3, no less), and finally conceded a late equaliser via a penalty. Now, this is all on the back of knowing exactly what SD11 was going to do since he's not active at the moment, so my tactics were very good. One might quibble about meeting his formation head-on, but that's very minor. I even went with the regular away win bonus.

So, not just because of this particular game/result, but I am 100% convinced that in the code somewhere there's an option for "we are going to **** this team over no matter what." Ah well, that's cyber-football for ya!

Yeah, there definitely is. Supposed to account for the "shock" results we see in real football every now and then.

Damn, you're right and I thought I had it bad. I'm thinking it's almost time to blow this team of mine up a bit. Though it was only last round or so when Clrnc got thrashed away from home by bad-ass.
