"I have given myself six months and then I will take stock. If I see it is blocked, I will go somewhere else. But for now I know I have the qualities to make a name for myself at Arsenal."
If he's so sure he can make a name for himself here why not stick around and prove it? I really like his playing style but this isn't the first time he's grumbled about a lack of playing time and his impatience is annoying. He can cover Arteta and Diaby's positions as well as LB/RB so I'm sure he'll get plenty of games.

The young ones are always overly ambitious, shut up and prove yourself coq

TBF it's his right, he's been here a while and if he feels he's not going to make it then maybe he should go elsewhere.
Age? well Ox plays and Fab started when he was 16 so not really an excuse.

Well i believe wenger is partly to blame for his impatience, a lot of these young kids are sold on transfers to us under the impression that if your good enough no matter how young you are you will get an opportunity to start, and from the looks of our latest acquisitions it seems wenger maybe moving away from this by adding more experience to the line up, but i really hate for him to come out with something like this though it almost seems like he is almost admitting defeat ...

Reminds me of Lassana Diarra. Similar player too!

At least we know if he goes it'll be entirely his fault.
Coq will get his chances, but right now our defence works so i'm sure he understands he's not getting a place there for a while... He clearly is also looking for a rotation spot in midfield, none of that RB nonsense.

I don't think he said much wrong even though it isn't what most people like to hear. Ideally he wouldn't have said anything or said that everything is great, but that rarely happens.
He's 21 and that is the age where many players break into their national team. He's 21 and plays at Arsenal, so he obviously thinks he can make the step up. He seems committed to taking his chance when he gets it, but also knows that the quality at this club may not present him with enough playing opportunities.
I think waiting for six months, like he said, makes sense and a lot of things can happen in six months. We have a lot of matches coming up and he'll get games.
Hopefully, when he gets his chance he takes it and we have another selection dilemma.

I dont understand these players, Ramsey is in the same boat and he hasn't started a game yet
COquelin is a good player but not someone we have to keep if he shows the wrong attitude
Fight for your place and impress the coach DONT DO STUPID INTERVIEWS

IIRC he's said much the same thing 2 summers in a row now,
= strike 2 for me.
Also shows a disturbing lack of 'loyalty' - IMO we need more 'local' lads.

Who do some of these kids think they are?
Francis son, you're playing for the Arsenal. You should not expect to start games here before you have proved yourself capable. If you don't like it, tough. If you want to leave, you know where the door is.

At least he's showing "ambition".
If he's good enough he'll make it, if not......well, I guess no one is going to stop him from leaving then.

Arteta, Diaby and Cazorla are great players, who have more experience than me. But during training sessions every morning I am not behind them.
This line is particularly disturbing, Gleb at Barca also said that only Messi was better than him. Where is Gleb now?
Just shut up and fight for your place in the team. When injuries inevitably strike, Coquelin will get his games. We have only two very young holding midfielders at the club. We can't afford loaning him.

I find his comment disturbing also. I really don't understand Coquelin. Arsenal have been linked with defensive midfielders all summer and we didn't buy one. We didn't buy one because we have him. Every club looks to have cover in every position, the difference at Arsenal is that the cover can be a 19 year old who no one else would take a chance on.
Coquelin had his chance in pre season to impress and in my opinion he didn't. He lost the ball far too much and his positioning left a lot to be desired against mediocre opposition. What I find most disturbing however is that he compares himself to Diaby and Arteta. So he believes he can play both the holding role and the box to box midfield role. He also says he is not behind them in training. That is his opinion and I'm afraid that doesn't matter. He may be impressing himself in training, but Wenger and Bould may be looking at something completely different and something that Arteta and Diaby have which he doesn't.
I think its pretty clear that we play with a box to box midfielder and a holding midfielder. We only have one natural holding midfielder, and that is Coquelin. So he really needs to take a good look at Arteta and develop his game so that he can take his spot. He is quicker and better in the tackle than Arteta, but his positioning is not on the same level and is pass completion rate is much lower. Instead of doing pointless interviews he should get his act together and improve. France have no lack of defensive midfielders, if he wants to play for France he needs to break into the Arsenal team, and in his position the length of career tends to be longer anyway.
I really do believe he is good enough. I believe he has what it takes at Arsenal. He is competing with a 30 year old and in my opinion is well ahead of Frimpong. If Arteta gets suspended or injured he is first in line. I have no idea what he is moaning about.

I think it's Arsenal youngsters' problem - they think they have divine right to play in our first team. Inflated ego + high wage, Wenger loves his kids and give them too much money.
Or it's a global problem with young players, Man U also lost two promising midfielders Morrison and Pogba. They left for more money.
Anyway when Diaby gets injured, Coquelin will get his chance.

I think he's scared that Frimpong is going to come back soon and then he will get Frimponged out of the team.

This is all coming from his recent interview where he said if he's not playing football in January he will look for a move, which means going out on loan. He only signed a long-term contract last season. Maybe Coquelin thought he would have got a start at right-back with Sagna injured.

Where you not the one complaining about what Sagna said re departures. What then gives a junior the right to come out and begin to demand playing time surely that is the managers job to decide who comes in who goes out who plays and who doesnt. Players jobs are to train and play as and when the manager tells them to.
I apologise if I have you mixed up with someone else.

He needs to put the work in at the training ground. He's talented, we've all seen it, but coming out with a comment like this will do nothing for his chances. This is something which seems to escape many young players.

Why is it that the young/half decent players, that we'd rather keep, are always the ambitious ones? Yet the dross, that we'd all love to see the back of, are unambitious and content to sit on their arses, take home their pay cheque every week and play a few games (badly) here and there.

I would've played him as right back instead of Jenkinson. He actually impressed me last season with his excellent attacking runs. He even made an assist.

He will get games in the next sixth months. We have the Carling Cup some CL games and when Arteta, Diaby or Wilshere need a break then he will step right in.
I think that he can make 15 apps this season and he should be happy with that. These young players need to learn to be patient.

He needs to improve if he wants more games, his last performance, against West Brom showed how far away he really is from starting for us, his positioning was awful and he got out muscled all game.
Don't think he's the loyal type either, I'm in no doubt that as soon as a "bigger" club come in for him he'd be off.

He's nowhere near ready enough to be displacing Arteta or Diaby. I understand in a way his frustrations and at least it shows he's raring to go and not happy just to pick up his pay and go home
Wenger needs to have a serious word with him though. He will get games this year as the injuries add up

He said similar things last year, he's just ambitious. Conor Henderson said similar things recently which to me is fair enough. Their futures aren't certain here and they either need to get games soon in the first team or they need to go for their own good.
