Uefa Champions League 2011/12

anyone want to agree with this? cause i know you all do, swallow your pride. Arsenal fans are on mute at all times, too nice, too patient and way too quiet. the atmosphere is not right. we need a voice and to actually show some anger about results, ****-ups and general lack of transfers......

David Smith (Lobby Member) on August 4th, 2011, 2:30 am

You speak as if Arsenal will never win a trophy again. We will come back stronger and we'll be the best team in the country, even in these competitive times.

We've been doing just that for 6 years (generally speaking), and no change has seemed forthcoming from the manager & the board...

Anyway, I just hope we finish things off in the 1st leg, as someone said above.

The voice is... Joe Barton.

Good to see Odense and Zurich going through.Hopefully we get them tomorrow,as a trip to Russia during the period we face Liverpool and Manure would be a bad thing.

Wait, Rvp and Nasri aren't allowed to play the next CL match right? And if Cesc refuses to play, what team will we line up?

RVP is suspended i think Nasri has served his so he is allowed to play

well is Cesc's plays he will be cup ties thereby decreasing his value my bet is he won't play unless he is fully committed to staying

When has Nasri served his? Because he was on the pith his last two matches, which was against barca.

If he's not allowed to play either, I'm going to brace myself...

Chamakh is going to play, ffs.

Perhaps. Hopefully! It would be nice if he scored one against Benfica. But he's going to need to perform. I didn't like what I have seen in pre-season from him. But then again, it's just preseason, right boots?

My bad they are both suspended

David Smith (Lobby Member) on August 4th, 2011, 11:23 am

I suppose Wenger is suspended from the touchline.

We, the Russians, would love to have Arsenal here. I understand that this trip is not any good for the team though...

One game for him and Nasri, right?

I'm really scared for the qualifiers now. No Nasri, No Rvp, and probably no Cesc. We need a good draw.

Sadly no. Flying from London to Russia 3 days before a big match against Liverpool/Manchester United is bad news. Rubin Kazan aren't a bad team either.

I agree didn't Rubin Kazan almost beat Barca at home last season and then beat them 2 seasons ago. That is definitely going to be a danger draw anything else is good.

Our best options will be Zurich/Odense. We will still only have 3 days before we face Utd/Liverpool, who would've had a weeks rest.

Advantages of getting places higher than 4th ....once again SQUAD depth

David Smith (Lobby Member) on August 4th, 2011, 1:58 pm

I have a feeling we'll draw either Twente or Udinese.

If I supported any team in that draw I'd want Arsenal. Good time to get them

that's a fair point actually, considering the games we have to play between the draws and how almost everyone everywhere must know our weaknesses, funny eh how we're all eye for specific opponents when they could very well be eyeing for us...

Rubin Kazan would be a very tough opponent. They'd like to draw us I'm sure. They're known to park the bus and play on the counter. All in that cold, dark place.

the way things have gone the last few months it would really sum it all up if we fail to get into the group stages wouldn't it. Would anyone really be that surprised? I wouldn't. There is no way we'll win it. We're just in it for the money. I wonder what the attitude would be like at Arsenal if we only had 3 teams qualify for the champions league. I think we would buy quality players then.

anzac made a good post earlier in one of the threads regarding this, based on how the club's being run at the moment, with 4th spot being our obvious target for UCL qualification and the money it brings, if we were to actually slip outta 4th or fail to qualify, that very failure could actually curtail us from spending what we needed to get back into the top four because most of what we earn is being paid off for our debts, explains why we had to sign arshavin when we did because wengs knew we were *that* close to missing out on 4th two seasons ago..
