Chu Young Park

i'd rather he and the club sort it out so he can contribute to our team. think he'd be a better choice than chamakh for sure...

'Bendtner, Squillaci and Park will be on their way to go somewhere,' said Wenger on Sunday. 'Arshavin, it depends. We have to sit together and talks. He could still have a future at the club.'

So Park is off for good. What a weird, weird signing this was. Park is truly one of the worst players I have seen play for us in quite a while. Lacked basic footballing skills, couldn't even trap the ball and was terrified of being passed to.

I do agree that he could well be the strangest signing we've ever made. Are you sure he lacked basic footballing skills ? We've only seen him play 3-4 times I think.

Wenger is a smart guy, he only signed him for (3.5mil), so we could improve our market in asia i bet we made fortunes on that.

But now South Korea hates us so we lost out in the long term.

i doubt asian fans are silly enough to spend money on park's kit... signing kagawa could have been a complete different story though.
in fact the best way to improve club image/sales in any market is winning, which is why we are so far behind manure, being caught up by chelski, shitty, etc.

yeah thats why our trip to korea was cancelled this summer and korean fans were slagging us of in the internet saying they bought him only to make money. The club changed tune as soon as they found out the feeling in korea for arsenal

Scoring an average of over 1 goal per game for the south Korean national team over a 10 game period
when he got like 300minutes total to play for a whole season...
Yes it seems he really falls short.
he also scored a lot for the reserves and pretty much any other opportunity he had
but everyone who lacks basic skills can do that.

Well for whatever reason he didn't get to play he should leave
nobody knows why we barely got to see him but
it seems safe to say that he has no future at Arsenal

Park is better player than the two players who played as strikers for us last game.......two guys who's first thought when they get the ball is to pass back and who cant even score from 5 yards. park has been treated sh1t by the club and he simply deserves better than what he has been getting. I respect him massively for atleast being professional as i expect 99% of players who has been treated like that would come to the media and slag the club off.

I purely agree with you there mate, I for one would like an explanation as to why he wasn't used fairly last season, we can see he has good skills with his national team. As you said earlier he has come across this incident with the utmost professionalism and I have full on sympathy for him, I hope when he finds a team this season they will treat him better.

To say Park is a rubbish footballer is a complete joke, his international and reserve goal scoring record (not to mention a decent few assist) is testament to the fact he has some ability.

We just have to accept that for whatever reason it just hasn't worked out, and we're not likely to find out.

At least we know he's definitely going now.

Prk scored 11 goals for the worst team in ligue 1
Chamakh scored 13 goals when his club won he league.

Whats even crazy is that there was a period of 3-4 games in row where both chamakh and park played for the reserves. park scored in all of them and Chamakh didnt score in any of them, yet Chamakh was the player Wenger choose for the bench and bring in when we needed a goal

Mario_Georgio (Lobby Member) on July 30th, 2012, 12:43 pm

Which is why i think there's more to the whole situation than we know, because there's simply no logical reason to play Chamakh over Park.

I think Park has done something to anger Wenger, it's weird the question doesn't get asked by journalist in press conferences.

I'm hoping once Wenger tells us Park is gone, he will give us an explanation.

english journos are lazy as hell and ask the same obvious questions all the time about the same 3-4 players

Wasn't the reason Wenger doesn't play him is because he tricked everyone about his military duty or something?

I remember reading some articles on this, but nothing really came from it, not sure if there is any substance but who knows right?

Still doesn't make much sense.
Even if that pissed Wenger off Arsenal would still have to pay AS Monaco up
and the gunners aren't like man city...
we're not in the position to anger and blow off a large potential market just because we're mad.
Well I guess showing anger isn't necessarily detrimental
but making the market feel disrespected is.

If we put this in a purely financial perspective,
the smart business move would be to still play him on unimportant occasions and
keep the Korean market happy and sell kits to try to make up for the financial loss.
If he turns out to hit some decent goals, increase his opportunities.
If you look at Ji Sung Park it's not hard to realize how the market can easily expand
amongst the Asian nations, not that Ju Young Park is at that level yet.
But considering how few decent East Asian strikers there are if he doesn't suck
there's quite a bit of potential to expand the market.
Of course that's probably not gonna happen anymore.

He's a far better goal poacher than chamakh and bendtner. He wouldve gotten us a few goals last season had he been chosen ahead of chamakh. But this transfer is dodgy. Something happened. He lied to AFC about something which is why he lost wenger's faith in him, it had to do with his military service. Thanks to that lie he cost 3-4 mil more.

No military service for any of the players on the team for winning the Bronze medal. Wonder how that will affect his Arsenal career.

ch2 (Lobby Member) on August 10th, 2012, 10:08 pm

his lack of appearance anywhere around the arsenal setup more like. Its definately not all down to footballing reasons. Either argument/deceiving or something.

his military service has been delayed before the olympics anyway. so doubt it would make any difference.

That performance will help raise his market value and attract potential buyers.

It'll still help him find a new team.
Most teams aren't used to the whole mandatory military service crap
I'm pretty sure they're more comfortable looking to sign a guy who's totally exempt
over one who has to go some time.
Nice performance by Park today he was composed even when surrounded by 4 defenders
and just nailed it in and the assist was pretty brilliant.

haemogoblin2 (Forum Member) on August 10th, 2012, 10:59 pm

indeed, great performance from him. its really a shame if he doesnt get a good run of games before he leaves. definitely a better player than chamakh now.
