i think we are all kidding ourselves....

even if we signed ribery...i wouldn`t be happy. united have pure quality..not just for now but in the long run.

we need to buy these young first team starters... like babel.. type.

but nani and anderson...dam.. im really depressed, honestly i think these are the best two buys in the last 4 years for any team in england.

bar the heskey to liverpool :D

had to do something to cheer up the mood imaging this thread posted all over manure forums and watch them grin and laugh

was gutted when i heard this, was always a huge fan of Nani. But this shows us that Manutd are not resting and will want to build a stronger team. The problem with us is that we are going to make cheap signings and very late ones(and we all know the effects of that).

Hopefully, United are done for the summer now and these two will both end up as busts.

Anderson is billed as some player though. And Nani looks to have great potential. Nani has to still be considered very, very far from proven world class players though.

As for the spending...

If you recall, it was widely reported from leaked and confidential internal documents from the takeover that Fergie would have a net transfer budget of £25million per year. And an additional ability to spend £25million on an one-off superstar player.

http://www.rte.ie/sport/2006/1222/manutd.html

They didn't spend much if anything last summer - and they've clearly rolled that budget over.

Hargreaves at £16. And these two for somewhere near a combined £26.

If the £25million per year is accurate and has also accrued from last season, United should have another £6-8m in the regular budget and plenty to spend on a star striker.

Lets faced it, without vast amounts of money we are not going to win the premiership in the next couple of years. The players we have lost in the last two years can only be replaced by huge signings. There is no way we are going to get past Manu and Chelski and probably Liverpool.

kalleTheMan (Trusted Member) on May 30th, 2007, 10:05 pm

What I seen of both players they are very special. I pray to god they will feel unsettled, bored, and freeze their asses off, and this time next year they be begging for Barca/Real to pick them up(including Ronaldo).

I could really do with an exciting signing very very soon. Heck even Ribery would make me feel a lot better.

both of them are tricky players that are fast and know were the goal is... its a shockwave through the premiership....

i want Diego from werder... and then another ontop of that to even COMPETE with them.

and thats frightening.

Grampus_Eight (Trusted Member) on May 30th, 2007, 10:14 pm

F*ck! United beat us in the youth cup and now they sign the potential too. Cunting *****! Huge potential and talents indeed, but has either player has accomplished much professionally? They're both leaving Portugal too early in my opinion.

I'll take comfort in that right now. They both may end up as busts.

What has Nani ever done? He scored 5 goals in Portugal this season.

Anderson had a long term injury and although I really rate him, he could turn out the next Sinama-Pongelle - although I really think he'll be a big player.

Suddenly United look like that have lots of strength in depth. They have a wonderful mix of experience and potential.

everythink you typed above was said about a C.ronaldo acouple years ago....

West Stand Gooner (Lobby Member) on May 30th, 2007, 10:17 pm

It's times like this where I wish that about 10 years ago, when we were looking for a new manager, somebody else would have become available. We may not have seen Henry, Vieria, Fabregas etc. but we may have seen 7 league titles.

The again ask me half way through 2004 and the story would have been different, so...

Anyway, on the transfer front, I just can't see us signing anyone. I'm not saying we won't, but if I were going to put money on it, I would definately swing the 'Wenger' way.

I can't count the number of times where I've seen Manu, Chelsea, Liverpool, hell Aston Villa splashing the cash, while I sit there wishing we could just sign one quality player. It never comes and I know at that point that we can say goodbye to any trophies.

hertsgooner (Lobby Member) on May 30th, 2007, 10:20 pm

Can someone tell me if the world has ended or have Man Utd signed 2 players who have never even proven themselves in the big time.

Forgive me for thinking the former.

true. very true. Arsène really needs to start opening his wallet now unless we want to finish forth for the 3rd consecutive time and then that would most likely mean that fabregas, henry, gallas and gilberto would probably all leave us then wew would be looking at uefa cup for the next 10 years :(

Forlan, Kleberson, Veron, Heinze... Alex obviously can't handle south americans. And that Nani kid, looks very thin, he will be eaten alive for some months before he can possibly start to deliver. Just too bad RvN isn't around anymore doing some classic old school bullying.

You bastards need to calm down. When Manure fans come on here and read your posts they can only laugh their arses off. Show some pride towards your team and change the losers attitude. You all are basically giving up on next season already. Embarrasing stuff.

Actually you know what, I'm off to support Manure. Bye.

There's no need to panic just yet. Nani and Anderson are totally untried atleast in the Premiership, there's a good chance they could flop, although of course there's the chance they could become superstars.

What this does prove though, is something we already knew. Man U, Chelsea and Liverpool are going to spend big this year, and if Wenger thinks he can come within 20 points of winning the league next year without buying some REAL quality, then I might have just lost a lot of confidence in the man.

This summer is quite possibly the most important for a decade, every season up til the last two we've been competiting for the top-spot, all of a sudden we look like we're in decline and we have to react, or it could get worse.

I still trust Wenger will recognise our problems, and what needs to be done and rectify the situation, I just fear he might be too stubborn.

Sorry mate, I know its dissapointing with Man U signing two hot youngsters. But......

That staement above is complete, absolute and total bollocks.
You must be one seriously thickle 'supporter' to say something like that. Seven league title's, what planet do you live on?

Mate we've barely won more than that in our entire history. Wenger is a footballing genius, he has made us the best before and he can do it again.

I hope this will give Wenger the nudge to start spending his money. He really needs to if we want to compete for the title next season. Man United have now signed three top players, Liverpool are bound to spend big and Chelsea will be active aswell. Spurs are right up our arse at the moment and we need to bring in a few players to move way above them and compete with the big three.

imagine this: diego and quaresma agree to terms with arsenal. i would have to be excused for a minute. quaresma would be a phenomenal signing. i understand he's not proven in the EPL but neither was thierry when he came in.

Were you jealous when Chelsea bought Ballack and Shevchenko? If you were you won't be now.

Wenger already said he's going to make 2 big signings. Just wait until the end of the summer before you start getting jealous of these so called amazing Portugese players who probably spend most of the time rolling around on the floor.

the thing is...we are all IMAGENING.... united actually acted.

That's how champions do it. They build on their team.

Liversh*te bought Vela and those other 18 year old nobody Hungarians, but we are buying proven talent, and it's going to be great to see them bear the shirt next season.

Arsenal needs to get buying, lest your gap between us increases
