Let's still all laugh at Tottenham

And is Lyon even in the CL next season? They're in 4th place 2 points behind Auxerre with two games to go. They might not even get there!

No seeding in the qualifiers anymore.

Did they change that Capi? 'Cause when we played Celtic in the play-off that draw was done with seeded/unseeded on the basis of club co-efficient.

I was under the impression that Platini had scrapped it, but perhaps I am wrong.

There definitely isn't any seeding for the coming playoffs. I thought that was the case for us last season too though, but i could very well be wrong there.

Clrnc (Trusted Member) on May 7th, 2010, 6:02 pm

There is still seeding, we couldn't face a few teams last year even in the changed format. I remember the seedings was announced before the 3rd qualifiers result and some teams seeding depended on Shakthar winning.

When the chips were down over the last 5 games, this is what Spurs did:

Chelsea - 2:1
Arsenal - 2:1
United - 1:3
Bolton - 1:0
Citeh - 1:0

A month ago, very few people imagined they would get more than one victory from that group of games. They won, and looked good in the process. One has to admit that King, Dawson, Modric, Bale and Gomes have played excellent football in that period. Saddens me.

Wonder who they will buy this summer

Lancelot (Trusted Member) on May 8th, 2010, 8:22 am

Hopefully a lot of what they consider to be 'super' players; that way, they won't have a well-balanced team and eventually finish up like Leeds.

Zico (Elite Member) on May 8th, 2010, 10:24 am

Lance, they're actually pretty balanced. They have a team that's deep with good, hardworking players. There's no Cesc or van Persie, but there is consistent quality throughout and not a great drop-off in quality on the bench.

The mugs down the road are actually doing a decent job

Lancelot (Trusted Member) on May 8th, 2010, 11:18 am

I agree with you completely, Zico; that's why I wanted them to soak up their own hype and start doing something silly like buying a lot of players which would make an already stable squad unstable. ;)

Manager of the year. Pathetic. Spent shed loads and was in the paper for dodgy deals all season. Really hope they get knocked out in qualifiers.

So you are bitter at the guy because he spent the money that was available to him? Contrary to Arsène's assertion it's not about who can win the most with the least resources. If you have the fortune of a club with money then don't stare a gift horse in the mouth. Neigh.

What was so 'special' in what Twitchy achieved that got him MotY? Ancellotti won every game against the top 4 in his first season and is on course of winning the double while breaking the scoring record in the PL.

The hype and bias towards the Spuds in the last month is sickening and yet so laughable.
User avatar

Zico (Elite Member) on May 9th, 2010, 3:24 pm

The bias towards Spurs is simply because they broke into the Top 4. If Villa had done the same, Martin O'Neill would have been named manager of the year.

This thread's supposed to be about laughing at the Spuds, not all this weird psychologically inverted fear and loathing!

A point today and then we can hope this was the closest they'll get to us for the next few decades. No need to start with all the angst about how "well run" they are just yet.

Dosent see much fun laughing at them at this stage of the season, but I went to gloryglory and they were devastated about the result suprisingly.

Happy St Totteringham's day everyone!

They say they're getting closer to us every year, but the closest they've been to us in the last decade was 4 years ago now. CL football will not change their inconsistancy - if anything it might make it worse.

I concur. We're in no position to laugh at anybody right now. Some of you lot should take a look in the mirror before ensuing on piss-taking tour.

CL football is a pain in the a** if you're not completely ready for it. We are miles ahead of them and, still, the CL fixtures have continued to mess our domestic results up time and time again.

They won't win it and won't be able to retain the 4th place either. More laughter next season is guaranteed, peeps.

Now on that note:  x3 @ Burnley 4 - 2 Spuds

I'm sorry? ".. No position to laugh at anybody.." Why not? Because we had a bad run of results lately we should bury our heads in shame and don't talk about anything other then how horrible we think our manager or player X is?

Because we had a bad end to a good campaign, we cannot laugh at Spurs losing against a relegated team? A loss in a game they had a 2 goal lead? There is a reason that Glory-Glory is so upset about this match and that reason amuses me. To bad for you guys that you cannot enjoy it

Fair play to the Spuds. Gave us a laugh on the last day of the season.

At first I wasn't laughing because of a similar thing happening at Wigan, but then I remembered them being **** all these years and still laughing at us getting knocked out of the CL or such things. **** 'em...Burnley.

*****! They'll achieve success from time to time, but they'll always be fuckups and always be in our shadows.

Haha Spuds you may have delayed St. Totteringhams day but it came nonetheless! Can't wait to see you knocked out of the CL at the first hurdle lol!

Bossa (Forum Member) on May 10th, 2010, 12:16 am

Spurs won´t make it to the Champions league. Their game against Burnley is the proof of it. They think that they are already there but they will get knocked out in the qualifiers. They have a good squad but I still think a team like Bremen, Lyon, Galatasaray, Zenit or Sevilla will knock them out because they got more European experience in these European home/away games.
