Refurbish The Lane? What are they going to do, take half the mold off the walls?
The walls are made of mold, so if they remove half of it they basically remove half of their walls.

I was hoping they would would build a brand spanking new stadium, and we could all marvel at them playing in it in league 2 in five years time.

Are you 100% on this? They're definitely not building a new stadium?
If I had a pound for every time one of my Spurs mates have tried to tell me how amazing their new stadium would be......
Fan-******-tastic if true. They can stay the small little club they are. I hope they spend millions and millions on that **** hole they're in right now.

They're building a new stadium on the grounds of the old one. It means they can half-build it while still using White Hart Lane.
Any word on Harry's court case?

I'm not quite sure what you mean. Are you implying that they'll only be upgrading, or will they be building a new stadium on the old one?

Building a new one adjacent to White Hart Lane, but they still haven't got planning permission. As far as I remember it's the third time, and people were moaning on the radio that it is due to one guy turning it down buggering it up for them. I forget the reason, but they have to keep adapting the plans.

From what I read in their accounts, it's a whole new stadium. It's gonna be built perpendicular to WHL, so they can build half, then need to knock the old shithole down for the other half. That's from their accounts though, idk if they've changed the whole plans recently. They spent 60m on those plans though, so I doubt they want to redesign.

Must be the "it's presence would be detrimental to the view of residents of the area" clause that also prevents us from ever expanding Ashburton Grove from the ~60k capacity up to a possible 70k (the architect said that 70k is a possible expansion target for the stadium).

So you're saying that in 5 years they'll be promoted?
This whole stadium thing reminds me of a newspaper article I saw in 1994. Rutgers University had just built a new football stadium on the site of the old one (built 1938 and crumbling by the time I saw it, played a year at Giants Stadium while waiting for the new one to be finished). The paper did a feature on all the Big East Conference teams and their stadiums. About the University of Pittsburgh's 70-year-old Pitt Stadium, they said they're looking into improvements, "preferably with a small nuclear device." In 2000, the stadium was demolished, the university's new basketball arena was built on the site, and the football team moved into the Steelers' new stadium.
Then again, I'm not sure if White Hart Lane hasn't already had a small nuclear device detonate inside. Certainly, there's been some shelling from the French Army (Henry, Vieira, Pires). Not to mention the Auld Irish Brigade (Ray Kennedy, Liam Brady).

Sp*rs are losing 0-2 to Villareal at home. The Spanish teams are supposed to be a couple of weeks behind the English ones and they are getting dominated.
I hope, they draw Sevilla.

And not because they're too chicken to show up. Although, as the old saying goes, if they had any sense, they'd be scared.

My niece is 3 years old, and already she can pass better than Denilson and stop a ball better than Fabianski. And she's ruthless.
Then again, she's Czech on her father's side.

Defoe: Spurs will go further in Europe than Arsenal
Published 22:30 05/08/10 By Mike Walters Recommend
Tottenham learn their Champions League fate today – with Jermain Defoe claiming they will go further in Europe than Arsenal.
Never mind a continent, Harry Redknapp’s men don’t even have to conquer the North Circular – the trail could lead all the way from White Hart Lane to the European Cup final, nine miles away at Wembley on May 28.
With several formidable obstacles lying in wait among their possible qualifying play-off opponents, Tottenham’s first hurdle could be the toughest.
But if they survive their Champions League audition, England striker Defoe believes Spurs are ready to usurp their neighbours from the Emirates as north London’s leading cultural attaches in Europe.
That’s a big call, a brave call. Especially as Arsenal share, with Real Madrid, the record for most consecutive appearances (10) in the Champions League’s knockout stage.
Defoe, however, can already spot Calais through his telescope and is backing Redknapp’s cor blimey to last longer than Arsène Wenger’s creme de menthe when we’re all trying to work out how many euros there are to the pound. He said: “If we can get past the play-off qualifier, I honestly think we will go further in the Champions League than Arsenal.
“No disrespect to Arsenal, because they have a good record in the Champions League and for them it’s become part of the furniture, part of their regular season, it’s the norm.
“But I can’t wait to experience the buzz around White Hart Lane on European nights, the place will be absolutely rocking.
“I do believe, if we can make that first step, that we will be contenders. We’ve got the squad, younger players like Gareth Bale have come on a bundle since we were last in Europe, and the gaffer would love to show what he can do as a manager in Europe.
“Harry was the top English manager in the Premier League last season, and there’s no reason why he can’t be successful in the Champions League.
“He’s a special manager. Down the years there are loads of people who have tried, and failed, to achieve what he did in his first full season at Tottenham, and I know he’ll be up for it in Europe.
“But we want to be quick out of the blocks in the Premier League as well. The big games come thick and fast on all fronts, for club and country, in the opening weeks and, as we saw last year, a good start can take you a long way. It’s crazy - only three months ago, we went up to Manchester City for what was effectively a shoot-out for fourth place, and now we are playing them again on the first day of the season.
“Who knows how important the result might prove in the final shake-up, but with City first up followed by a Champions League qualifier, it feels like the business end of our campaign might be in the first weeks.
“It’s a tough schedule, but we will be ready for it mentally. I’ve always believed in making a strong start. We did that last year, and it set the tone for the next eight months.
“Every year the Premier League seems to be getting tougher, but Tottenham fans have been waiting forever for a team to deliver Champions League football, and we don’t want to be one-hit wonders.
“We’ve got the players to do it, a top manager and we need to prove we belong on the biggest stage, and competing against the biggest teams in Europe, consistently.
“Ever since I went to St Lucia with the family after the World Cup, I’ve been itching to get out on the pitch.
“I took a ball down to the beach with me every day because there are so many big games coming up and I want to be ready for them.

IF they qualify I suspect that they'll find juggling the Premiership and CL very hard going. It's gonna be a very steep learning curve for them.

I only have to think back to the way we struggled at times in our early UCL forays with a side far superior to the current Spurs setup to get an indication of how they’ll probably go.
