Haha I did them I was really confident that could come in but the more I look at it the more i'm surprised the odds arent slightly higher, theres no easy games really in that list

Nole was Oscar worthy  he surely exaggerates some of his physical issues. Not touching Azarenka/Sharapova, Azarenka is playing better while Maria has the experience. Would be cool to see Azarenka win after her injury issues over the years.

Will do something with Spurs depending on the line up, African Nations games too.

 The Betfair forum was a fcking laugh! Those with money on Nole were waiting for the prices to flip flop so they could get their money back on Murray! Mugs. Now, i don't know if he was acting or not, but there was no way he was going to just stop or give up, and as long as he was on his feet he was always going to win. Murray just never gave me the impression he could go through with it.... again. Nole touched 3.5 and even 4's etc in running. :D

Got to be one of the worst womens finals imaginable. I'll have the ipod on for that one or the mrs will think I've got hardcore porn on. If Azza can get over her first slam nerves she has a chance, but I've see her choke so bad before that I think she'll need the experience of getting to a final before she can go a step further. She has the talent for sure, but I think Shazza wins.

Neither can serve, Azarenka moves and returns better, Sharapova is mentally stronger and more experienced. Should be a number of breaks as both will get plenty of cracks at 2nd serves.

If this was the final of a regular event, I'd back Azarenka at odds on, in a slam I just can't. I'm gonna find a few different markets to put some money down on that one, like total breaks, double faults etc.

I'm quite tempted by Rafa at 2.40 in the final, but considering we got that price vs Federer, maybe it's not so great. Novak just doesn't seem at his 2011 level yet, and I think Rafa can outlast him this time if it goes to 4 or 5.

Neither of those mugs can serve either....

I'm on a decent run at the moment, won £290 last night thanks to a last minute Santos winner. Think I'll just stick to a couple bets this weekend though, don't trust myself not to **** it up.

Gone for
Real Madrid to beat Zaragoza by 4+ goals
Bilbao to beat Rayo
Napoli to beat Genoa
PSG to beat Brest
£15 returns £365

Defoe Anytime Scorer v Watford
Jordan Rhodes anytime scorer
Hull to beat Crawley
Liverpool/ Man Utd both teams to score
Sunderland to beat Boro
£15 returns £317

Anyone bet on the game between Djokovic and Nadal? What a game that is, come on Nadal!!!

fabo (Forum Member) on January 29th, 2012, 4:59 pm

Had over 39 games in the final, comfy win.

Novak........:worthy

Rafa:........had the match in his hand but I think Novak is in his head now. He would never miss that easy volley at 4-2 in the 5th vs anyone else. He wins the match if he sticks that imo.

Hard to know what Nadal does if he loses to Novak in Paris later this year. That will be a superb event.

How bloody slow are the courts these days btw, no wonder we have 6 hour matches. Plus the excessive ball-bouncing and general pissing about between points from both players contributed too.

What a match, respects all round I think. Took Nole @ 2.10 at the start of the second - couldn't see him losing two sets in a row, serving first, that and it looked like the Murray ecounter wasn't having an affect on him. My bet became a secondary issue by the end though - was just really enjoying the match.

That point in the 5th would have made it 40-15, and you would back Rafa to make it 5-2 from there and wrap up the title... Nole has done to Rafa what the Spaniard has done to Roger Federer over the years - got into his head. French Open should be phenomenal stuff, its Nadal's patch, but Nole will be going hard to hold all 4 slams.

Miguel Angel Nadal in the crowd too, Rafa's uncle, im sure I watched him for Spain at CB in Euro 96.

I backed Rafa at 13/10 then backed Nole @4/1 at 4-2 in the final set.

That simple backhand passing shot will haunt him for some time. Thing is, I never thought Nole was at his best either, which was probably why Rafa stayed with him for so long. Nole didn't sustain his superiority over him for quite long enough to completely break Rafa like he has done recently.

I saw all the same flaws in Rafas game that he gets away with when he plays Federer and the rest, but gets punished for against Nole. A lot of his forehands were landing inside the service line which is just way too short against any half decent player, nevermind the very best!

Weird thing is that Rafa will probably take heart from this defeat, as he wasn't demoralised this time. The downside for him is that Nole can only improve again and now knows that if he has to go to the trenches against Rafa, he can, and he can prevail, even when not at his very best.

Great game, didn't bet on it though. Was going to go for Djokovic to hit under 7.5 aces but just wanted to watch the game without any money on it in the end. Fairly sure i would have lost that bet anyway, think he had hit 4 by the first set and can remember a few after that.

Hearing some call it one of the best ever but actually found the first 2 maybe 3 sets a bit lacking quality wise. The shotmaking wasn't as good as previous games between the 2 i felt. Great battle in the end though, thought Nadal was out of it in set 4 but he showed great spirit.

Any good football bets this week? (i don't actually care, i'm just pretending to keep this somewhat on topic)

Any tips for a newbie?

Just try not to lose the run of yourself. If you have 50 euro, i'd recommend putting it on one really good bet rather than making numerous small bets - well thats if you want to make money rather than betting for fun.

Sometimes the best bets can be abstract ones like time of the first goal etc.

 Don't worry, this our grubby little club of sin that no good man dares to frequent. Remember though, the first rule of 'football betting thread' is not to mention 'football betting thread'

S'up bros

No spam, I've found an offer that looks pretty good for all you betting types.

http://www.oddschecker.com/tv

Not sure on the long and short of the offer as I don't do online betting, but I figure it should be worth a look.

Darren Bent anytime scorer at 9/4 was easy money.

Betting on the amount of yellow cards in La liga matches seems to be a winner aswell, the refs are dishing them out for fun. There was something like 24 bookings in Racing/Valencia Sevilla/Malaga games.

Taking City @ 1.83 tonight against Everton. Vincent Kompany is back too.

I really should go with my gut feeling, watching the Everton game last night, was thinking about putting some money on Gibson first goalscorer and Everton to win 1-0 at HT.

Reminds me of the time i said Skrtel OG to my mate as the next goal in a Spurs/Liverpool match, needless to say he scored an OG 5 minutes later.

FML.

I'm tempted to back Valencia @ 4.50.. Barca have been poor away from home this season and they struggled badly against Valencia in the league.

edit: just seen Barca's team, no Xavi or Alves.. Worth a try!

fabo (Forum Member) on February 1st, 2012, 8:58 pm

Valencia win or draw I think, worth a go. Basically a lay of Barca winning.
User avatar

GDeep (Forum Member) on February 1st, 2012, 9:02 pm

Haha, schoolboy from me, I took Barca @ 1.73 without looking at their team! **** me, no Xavi or Alves.
User avatar

GDeep (Forum Member) on February 1st, 2012, 10:57 pm

Well played if you had money on Valencia to win or draw, I don't know how Barca didn't win, so many good chances, Messi even missed a peno.

I got 1.80 on under 3.5 goals after Valencia scored though!

krengon (Forum Member) on February 1st, 2012, 11:08 pm

damn I lost :( should have played it safe with a win or draw but oh well..

Messi has missed some crucial penalties this season, but still 1-1 is a good result for Barca.

fabo (Forum Member) on February 2nd, 2012, 12:05 am

Yeah, Barca are just not very good on the road this season.

Had it on in the background on TV while watching us on the laptop, seemed the usual stuff. Messi trying to do everything himself, Cesc underperforming again.

krengon (Forum Member) on February 4th, 2012, 12:01 pm

Arsenal to win by at least 2 goals @ 1.75
Wigan to beat Everton @ 3.10
Crystal Palace to beat Middlesbrough @ 4.20

Bilbao to beat Espanyol @ 1.65
Real to win by at least 2 goals against Getafe @ 1.80

The first one is a long shot, but I feel confident on the second one..

Armor for Sleep (Elite Member) on February 4th, 2012, 1:23 pm

Under 2.5 goals at 13/8 seems like a good bet to me. A number of our home games have been low scoring and Blackburn lack firepower without Yakubu.
User avatar

GDeep (Forum Member) on February 4th, 2012, 2:10 pm

On the tennis as usual but reckon Arsenal/City/Real @ 2.10 are worth a punt, on that today!

Getafe are a tough team though and wouldn't be surprised to see Real slip up today.

Right ladies any tips today?
Fancy Everton to beat Chelsea at 9/4

Milan to beat Udinese away 8/5
Bilbao to beat Betis away 13/8
Fiorentina to beat Parma away 9/4
Look like decent shouts aswell.

Had a free £10 bet on SkyBet which I'd forgotten about. So I just stuck it on a Sunderland win today as a bit of insurance to soften the blow a bit if we do lose.

Does that make me a d*ck?
User avatar

Armor for Sleep (Elite Member) on February 11th, 2012, 1:04 pm

Jeez man, i wouldn't be backing Milan at Udinese...certainly not at that price anyway.

Man Utd at 10/11 is very good value imo. Infact i'm going to do a Fulham, United, Chelsea-Everton Draw treble. 20 pays 254 quid.
User avatar

GUNNERS4L1FE (Forum Member) on February 11th, 2012, 1:24 pm

Yeh I opted out of that one, the odds have slightly fallen since last night.

Thrown 20 on Udinese to score more than 1, United to score more than 1, and Bolton to beat Wigan. 20 returns 220
