Andrei Arshavin (Out)

kopzilla (Forum Member) on August 25th, 2012, 2:06 am

If Shava goes , we'll probably are looking for a replacement even though Wenger didn't say so.

If we are in for a LB , Santos can play LW.

Last season we were linked with Benayoun, Dempsey and Arteta towards the closing hours of the window.

We may be in for a surprise this time as well.

Bendtner, Shava out..? What happened of the Ramsey loan?

There needs to be rulings/temp bans enforcing for people who bump week old threads with no new developments. I clicked on this thinking 'ahhh have we finally shifted Arshavin', but nope

Cutting our losses? We must really want him off the wage bill and be convinced he's got no role this season if so.

It seems to have hit enough reputable sources to be worth bumping the thread for, including this one...

I can't see him leaving because he want's to stay in England so him and his family can get British Citizenship. By January he will have qualified for it I think, so I guess he could leave in January. His contract expires in the summer, Arsenal aren't going to give him a new contract.

Would rather keep him than give him away for nothing, if only for the numbers. Gervinho's gone for a month or two in January, and who knows in what form he'll return, and Arshavin is still capable of playing at a high level, and even if he doesn't he can make himself useful - Swansea at home last season comes to mind, think most in our team (besides the left-footed Judas, and even he might not) would have missed from that angle.

Maybe Bould will beat some work ethic into his head, maybe he even does a Rosicky and turns it up for a last time.

Would also rather keep him than give him away, he still has a lot to offer if he can gt himself back on form. Hard to see where he fits in though as our other wide forward options are such a better fit and at AM Cazorla, Wilshere and Ramsey all do their fair share of tracking back.

He's one of the best paid players at the club.

Andrey Arshavin has turned down a Russian transfer deadline day move to Dinamo Moscow, preferring to stay at the Emirates to fight for his place in the first team.

I think he just rejected Dinamo because they're not Zenit. I bet if Zenit wanted him, he would've gone.

Looks like Zenit have money to buy him if they want. But they're more interested in Nani: http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story ... ed?cc=5901

Zenit is bankrolled by Gazprom, a corporation more powerful and rich than any other single entity or oligarch in Russia and the gov't is the majority shareholder and Putin himself calls the shots. Damn right they have the money!

Lazy little toerag but still got more talent than almost anybody else in the squad. We're not going to sign a replacement now the window is shut so we might as well see how he gets on.

How can Nani join them? They are extremely racist against blacks. Remember Spalleti saying if Zenit fans allow them to sign black players they would improve alot.

He is the most expensive bench warmer we have had.
I can't believe Arshavin, Chamakh and Squillaci are on about 200k a week between them and they are all still here.

Of the three of them only Arshavin is the only one good enough to sit on the bench.

It's amazing that Arteta is asked to take a pay cut when he joins us and yet these three clowns are earning a fortune for not contributing anything to the club.

Chamakh and Squillaci are indeed on contracts that exceed their talents. I tend to sell them on my FM Arsenal games, and have to agree to paying them a portion of their wages for the remainder of their Arsenal contracts.

Lets hope he's motivated to fight for his place because at the moment he's well down the pecking order.

Arshavin and Rosciky are two great offensive options to have. We can actually compete on multiple fronts because of depth like that. At the same time, they aren't holding back the younger players from staking a claim.

I'm surprised that this was glossed over when Witsel and Hulk signed.

I also never fail to be surprised when players take the big bucks in places like Russia and Qatar. I'd honestly rather play for half the money in France or the Netherlands or somewhere. Sod living in Dagestan.

You mad?! Of course they don't live in Dagestan, they'd be dead by the end of the week

Was actually a story a while ago. They fly from Moscow (I think) to Dagestan for games, and that's it. They don't live anywhere near for obvious reason, it's a complete shithole.

But even then, I'd rather get payed a 3rd of their wages and play in England than live in ******* Russia, no offense to any Russians on here.

 don't think it would offend anyone tbh. Hell look at Arshavin even he doesn't want to go back.

Moscow and St. Petersburg are beautiful cities, can make for a nice living there, if you're rich that is. It's like saying you wouldn't want to play for West Ham because Upton Park is in the East End of London, and that's an area that has a rather grimy reputation, when you can be quite assured that players for their football club have their houses in a nice area with Chanel and Prada boutiques around the way.

That said, I'd never want to live in Moscow or St. Petersburg, I'm freezing my balls off in Central Europe already.

Well, no offence obviously, was talking about the reputation the East End has in general. I haven't been to London for more than 10 years though, don't know what it looks like nowadays, but I've heard that it's gotten a lot better.

Ah **** off, will you  I wasn't even saying that the East End is shabby, just that it has that kind of reputation when I made the comparison to Russia, where some instantly think of the Mafia and civil wars with separatist republics.

Also, we're all supporting Arsenal, traditionally compromised of the working class and the likes, we're supposed to be the broke motherfuckers

You haven't been to London in ten years?!?

Interesting points on Moscow and St. Petersburg, but I'd imagine they're not as nice places to live if you're black - unless you can afford 24 hour security guards.
