Just realized how quickly January is approaching. Have to say, I'd be surprised if we signed anyone, but Podolski would be a good and realistic target.

He's out until March, not June...

He's effectively out for the season considering the time he will need to get match fitness back.

Yep. A new fullback is necessary. And turf Gibbs. Sick of his constant injuries.

What about Vargas from Fiortentina. He can play LB, LW and CM. Versatile player.

Yup = it's December & he was only starting to look PL fit.
I wonder if at 28 years he's going to start to struggle with his weight and fitness after 3 months out.

There was also a suggestion that CFC could let Torres go for 20m = a 30m loss.

I can't see Wenger having 3 full-backs on our books. Santos was only bought after we could get rid of Traore. Alba would be great long-term though. Gibbs has not taken his chance so far and if he can't do so by the end of the season we'll have to buy someone.

I'm desperate for one of Goetze/Hazard. Add in a competent replacement for RvP and I think we would be a great bet for the title next season (presuming we'd be written off before hand as usual).

Olic himself confirms that he want to leave Bayern Munchen this January...
"I intend to leave Bayern in January," Olic said. "I'm no longer in the plans of the Bayern boss and that could subsequently jeopardise my place at Euro 2012. I'm honoured that a side like Lazio have been associated and I hope there is more to it than just an interest in me

After watching Manuel Fernandes (Besiktas) tear Stoke several new ones earlier, I'm completely sold on him as a world class midfielder, and would take him in an instant. I honestly can't remember the last time I saw a better performance from the centre of midfield. If some turk out there makes a video of his performance for Youtube, it's well worth a look. His every touch was world class.
Incidentally, Eduardo Vargas just bagged another brace as Universidad De Chile romped to a second leg 3-0 win in the final of the Sudamericana - his second goal was a peach.
Now there's a duo!

I've seen Fernandes look like utter crap alot of times aswell.
Did look good last night though, from the half hour spell I watched.

I remember Fernandes from his time in England, looked an interesting player.
He's failed loads of medicals in his career though, he better stay away from PL and especially Arsenal imo.

He's had his problems but he's still young. If we're talking crocks, then I'd rather have one with Fernandes' ability that Diaby on our payroll! No brainer.

For me he was Valencia's best player before his injury, was putting in world class performances weekly. Failed a medical which ended his chance of joining Inter.

I like Fernandes a lot but he doesn't play in a position/role where we need players.

He could provide some awesome competition at a decent price though, eh? For instance, if we had him now you'd shove him in over Ramsey for the time being.... But hey, I'm wishing. I was really taken by his display yesterday.

Just read that Napoli have offered €9m for him(Gazzetta). Inter are also interested

How does Eduardo Vargas compare to the other young South American striker we've been linked to - Matias Suarez?

You know, we might fool Barca that Djourou is a good fit for them. He's a better possession CB than a scrapper, and he's decent on the ball - maybe not for Barca standards, but you never know until you see them in there, bastards have so much talent i could play defender for them. you have low ratio of having to defend, and most of it is keeping the line and covering, because their front pressing does most of the job. djourou is pacy so he'd be decent for counter attack cover, and he'd offer extra height for midget XI.
Puyol and Abidal ain't exactly young, Pique's fitness suspect, and while Busquets and Masch have covered, Keita ain't young either, so they'd be needed or preferred over Keita in midfield.
As we need twice more cover than other teams anyway, we could just offload Squid and Djourou and get Cahill on the cheap no? not anyone is a bench warmer, plenty of games to go around for 2 cb spots. in fact, ~50 games a season, or 100 slots for 4 cb's. 25 games a season on average, not to mention Kos and TV can cover in fullback. might be interesting to use TV in midfield as well, ******'s so good you could play him as a striker. offers goal/shooting threat, great engine, dynamic, good on the ball, decent passer.
I will not tolerate any comedy towards my post!
