Stewart Robson, the complete moron

Timleaf (Forum Member) on September 13th, 2010, 2:15 pm

Someone should start a petition to get this bloke thrown off Arsenal TV. It sickens me that he gets a good wage to represent Arsenal football club. Anyone that heard his comments during the Bolton game will agree with me. He was co-commentating for Setanta Ireland, and proceeded to spend the entire 90 minutes criticising everything Arsenal.

He had digs at Cesc, Wenger and Eboue. He said that Diaby couldn't have been that injured after the Robinson tackle because he got up. He even said that the Robinson tackle was "good". In the past he's repeatedly had a go at Wenger whenever he's asked for better protection from referee's.

The bloke is a bitter, arrogant c*nt.

 I can't stand him either.

He's been a guest on ESPN Soccernet Presspass a few times, and he comes across as a bit of an idiot. Every single time he's been on the show he's said that Arsenal need to stop playing such a high line. Every single time!

Arseblog mentioned him in his post-match review, and said someone should have a word with him. He also said he may purposefuly try to sound un-Arsenal so as to balance his allegiance with Arsenal or something.

With you on this Tim, he came across as a right wanker last Saturday. They weren't just thinly veiled digs - he really was having a go at Wenger, Eboue and anything else Arsenal (apart from Almunia, who he said was a better keeper than he gets credit for).

I don't know what his fu**in problem is.

This is probably the most un-arsenal thing anyone could have said!!

He does have a massive ego, but he really does know a lot more about Arsenal than your average pundit. It's for that reason that I have a bit of time for him. The average punidt is just so ignorant when it comes to Arsenal - to some fans it might not be apparent, but when you know Arsenal like we do, you realise about 98% of what is said in commentary, football shows, and newspapers is just plain wrong.

Robson at least knows Arsenal inside out. He also regularly calls us the best footballing side in the Premier League, by a mile, and says we're as good as Barcelona and Spain with the ball at our feet. So he doesn't hate us.

Wasn't he an Arsenal captain once upon a time?

Have to agree with Tim. He was a complete ass last Saturday. Constantly moaning that arsenal players and fans are always trying to get opposition players booked for nothing, that's its well known that arsenal fans believe every foul against them is a yellow card etc

Like has been said, he came across bitter and twisted.

This is true, we know more about the club than them and even more than some of the players do.

I don't remember him being captain.

I remember him being ******* ****.

GDeep (Forum Member) on September 20th, 2010, 11:38 pm

One of the best pundits out there, Robson knows his football, when everyone else is spouting tired cliche rubbish on all matters football, this guy takes it to another level, especially during or after a game, I feel like im learning something when I hear him dissect what has just happened on the pitch. I've bigged him up on the Talksport thread in the past too, quality pundit, puts most others to shame.

Commentated on yesterday's game. Still continues to berate everything Arsenal-related. Off the top of my head, he managed to criticise Nasri for "regularly going down too easily", our defenders for playing such a high line, our manager for not placing enough emphasis on defending, Denilson for "always playing sideways" and even pointing out specific instances where he played sideways/backwards. He also said, and I quote, "Denilson is a poor defensive midfielder".

Not saying he's wrong on all counts, but he genuinely comes across as someone who dislikes Arsenal. Really strange.

He reckoned we'd win four trophies. *Got beat in CC Final*
He reckoned we'd win the treble. *Got beat by Barcelona*
He reckoned we'd win the double. *Got beat by Man United*

Hopefully now he shuts up about us winning the league, seems to be a jinx -_-'.

Oh man, I thought I misheard him or something. What a ******* buffoon. Nasri's the one player who is most likely to stand and hold off a challenge. Evra's tackle was also a bad one to boot.

******* moron.

Robson is a legend, you can tell he watches a lot of football and is very knowledgeable. He's much better than most pundits regardless of whether you agree with his 'honesty' or not.

I don't think I've heard a pundit who rates Wilshere more highly. He has a strange Diaby fetish though.

You guys are way too negative on Robson. Yes he sometimes criticised the team and Wenger but every fan has done this. I think that he says sensible things and I enjoy listening to him. Of course he's biased and he likes some particular players.

arsenallegends (Forum Member) on March 23rd, 2011, 4:28 pm

I'm gonna disagree with his sensibility Boss. He's overly opinionated as a color commentator, makes a lot of unwarranted assumptions about anything from management, to players to Wenger and comes off as a **** stirrer, which is unpleasant considering he's an ambassador of Arsenal of sorts; an entitlement which he abuses. Mostly indifferent but nonetheless disappointed he's on the circuit and if we are losing you can bet I'm spouting atrocities at the screen when he's speaking. At that point its best to put on some tunes and mute the telly.

How is this guy even employed by ArsenalTV? All he does is criticize the club and Wenger.
I'm surprised he's lasted this long.

DJ_Markstar (Forum Member) on September 23rd, 2011, 8:23 pm

Robson's not great, but he's still a lot better than that **** Andy Townsend.

This bitter cvnt needs to be fired from ArsenalTv. Was at his all time best saying our players were basically cheats.

DJ_Markstar (Forum Member) on March 1st, 2012, 1:47 am

Gonna go ahead and quote myself.

DJ_Markstar in the International Friendlies thread wrote:Stewart Robson is a complete ****. He is the king of the hindsight fap, and offers very little of any substance.

His ideas on the game are largely inaccurate and he clearly doesn't watch individual footballers before making generalisations about them.

Hate him.

Hate him imo.

What the **** is wrong with this guy? He was even having a go at the club for placing the fans too close to the managers, after Harry had supposedly been abused from the stands.

Michael Cox (from ZM) is a very good writer and I am regular reader of his blog. He is now respected and often quoted by the more serious football journalists: Jonathan Wilson, Phillippe Auclair, Henry Winter, Marcotti etc...

While helping him during early stages of his Wordpress blog, he admitted that he is a longtime Arsenal fan and I am glad he is giving his fair share of analysis on arse.com.
