http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/football/9 ... -10million?

http://football-talk.co.uk/64318/arsena ... d-striker/

Also been linked with West Ham.

No idea who he is, and the price is too high anyway imo. And assuming we get Giroud, we have more than enough strikers.

Joselu is a 22 years old Real Madrid academy player that scored 26 goals playing with Real Madrid Castilla in the Spanish 2nd League. I think he has tremendous talent and Real Madrid's price tag is proof that he has the quality to be a star and that they don't want to lose him. I think that Arsenal should definitely go for Joselu! We could buy him now for £10 Million when he is still very young and unknown, we coach him under the Arsenal FC philosophy, he plays in a much better league to further develop his talent and then we sell him to a larger club in 5 years when we already exploited his best years and for 4x times his investment cost. Seriously, I would much rather have Joselu than the worthless likes of Chammakh or Park and he will later partner up with Joel Campbell when both are ready for regular first team action.

Do it AW!!!!

Actually no, Arsenal have been following him for a while and competed with RM to get him when he was at Celta Vigo.

I'd be underwhelmed with this signing all honesty. Regardless of how good he is potentially, we are looking for a forward who can contribute now. We haven't got the time to wait developing another young talent. Besides, we already have Benik Afobe and Joel Campbell as young strikers/forwards coming into the team.

I was first underwhelmed with the news as well but thinking about it, I realized that it might not be such a bad bit of business. Considering that Giroud would replace Chamakh, then Joselu would replace Park. So he is our third striker and we have to stay realistic about our aspirations for this position. He might not even be included in most of our weekly Premier League squads.

With 22 years of age he is not a youngster anymore. At this age we can expect him to step up his game and he already got quite some experience playing week in, week out. He was second best scorer of the second division and if our club is interested then they see enough potential in him to further improve.

I can't imagine Wenger buying another striker after signing Giroud especially seeing as Podolski and Walcott can play there. Additionally, with Afobe and Campbell coming through the ranks, there doesn't seem space for another striker.

Considering he would reportedly cost the same amount as Oliver Giroud; I think it would be one or the other. In that case, I would want Giroud.

I am assuming that we will get rid of Carlos Vela, Niklas Bendtner, Marouanne Chammakh, Andrey Arshavin and Park Chu Young. Therefore, this leaves us with Robin Van Persie and Oliver Giroud as strikers, since Walcott, Gervinho, Podolski and Oxlade-Chamberlain will be used mostly as wingers. Therefore, we currently only have two strikers and we should have at least three of them. Ideally, I would love that spot to be used on Joel Campbell, but at the moment we don't even know if he will get a work permit and he is very far from being fit for first team action. This leaves only with Benik Afobe, who I think is also not ready for first team action. Therefore, we need to find that third striker and I believe that Joselu would be perfect. Not only will he serve that role perfectly well, but he is extremely talented and will become a household name in the next 2-3 years. I say cough up the money and take a gamble on him now and not regret it later.

The reported fee is £10 million. Wenger didn't even pay that for our first choice striker, Robin van Persie. It's highly unlikely he'd be willing to shell that out on a relatively unproven player who will be third choice centre forward at the club.

Never understood why some of you argue that you need 3 strikers. If you sign Giroud, you have 2 class strikers with Podolski easily swapping in if needed and Walcott/Campbell/Afobe/whatever if the **** truly hits the fan.

Berbatov played 13 games last season in a 2 striker system (if you count Rooney as a striker) and that was only because Welbeck was injured for large parts of the season.

What player good enough to play for Arsenal would sign to be a 3rd choice striker anyway? The only players wanting to do that are young, unproven players, and you already have that.

Plenty of us believe Robin is off and that Giroud (if he signs) is a replacement. Some of us even think Podolski will be used as a replacement and we'll stick with what we've got out wide. We'll see.

Podolski seems more like a replacement for Park IMO.

This guy has a good goal record and we have apparently been tracking him for a while is he worth a 7m punt I am not sure. If we plan to sell Walcott then we will need to swoop for him (or someone else)

Remember when we had to play Arshavin as a striker because both Van Persie and Bendtner were injured? Another wasted season... Wenger got Chamakh the next summer in order to have a third striker.

Bendtner wasn't happy with his squad role so Wenger replaced him with Park last summer.

Right now our realistic options on the wings are Gervinho, Podolski and Walcott so we don't have too many players to fall back on.

Chamberlain, Afobe, Miyaichi and Campbell can't be relied on if we want to win trophies. Wenger himself said that Campbell isn't ready and he also criticizes Chamberlains decision making skills due to his age and experience.

Wenger seems to finally have the funds to build a team which can truly compete and he really wants to do it. It also means that even our most promising youngsters will have it much harder to break through than in the past years.

The only reason this makes sense, is if RVP goes as a back up to Giroud/Podolski or as an alternative option to Giroud. In both scenarios Chamakh and Park have to leave and I wonder how far we off shipping them out on their high wages. If we do get him let's hope he's special

A new yet tenuous link to him and probably more of a lazy re-link because of the RVP situation. It would fit our moneyball model though. If we get rid of Park/Chamakh though and he's talented as made out he will be a very useful option, if he can make it ofcourse
