Robert Lewandowski

There are several other sites going with this story, however they seem to all simply be running off this one.

Hopefully the report that there will be a meeting next week to discuss potential replacements for van Persie is true and Giroud and Podolski aren't his replacement.

I don't know much about Lewandowski to be honest, just that he has started to make a bit of a name for himself. I remember there was a report where Szczesny urged Wenger to sign him recently, just before the Euros, and there has been a lot of talk about him being an Arsenal fan.

From what I can gather, he would be a more than decent replacement for van Persie.

The timing of this article just makes it lack any form of credibility.

Good in the air but also strong on the ground too. He's a tad similar but he's more of a poacher than a target man/all rounder like Giroud is. He can also play on the wings i think.

Not leaving Dortmund.

He doesn't seem as skillful and well-rounded as Giroud, but he's still a good number 9 — very good in the air and runs all day.

I like the look of Stevan Jovetic. He seems a mixture of FW and AM.

Not really, much quicker and more dynamic and mobile imo. I think of Giroud more as a target man and less mobile. Really don't see it happening even when Robin moves on imo, but would love him.

I can't see Dortmund selling him, he is very good friends with WS and I think he supports Arsenal as well.

Didn't Dortmund already turn down Manure's attempt to sign him? If they did then there is no way we are going to be able to pry him away.

I remember Lewandowski said he'd like to play for Arsenal if given the chance. I rate him quite highly and he was/is being linked to Man Utd. Solid all round striker, similar to Edin Dzeko. But even if RVP goes I don't see him coming with Giroud and Podolski already here.

Saw him up close last season and was very, very impressed. Looked great for Dortmund. Intelligent player, good touch, strong in the air, can play with his back to goal. Out of all the players we've been linked with, he's probably the most realistic signing.

The only thing real right now is that we're scouting him, but we always scout alot of players so that's not really saying much.

Though I do feel that we will go after him in 2 to 3 years if none of our youth forwards are unable to crack in the first team.

I honestly don't see us in for another 'top'striker. After Podolski and Giroud even if RVP leaves, I suspect we're looking for an up-and-comer. We all know who Wenger really covets in Dortmund and they're not selling him, at least not yet.

He reminds me of Carlos Tevez.

Lewandowski is quality.

I don't think he'd leave Dortmund. And if he did, as much as I hate to say it, I think he'd have better options (in his eyes) than Arsenal.

One step forward two steps back is the Arsenal dance remember?

This is not RVP's replacment we already have that, this is Theo Walcott's.

You heard it here first.

The new striker will probably play in RVP's stead but were buying one because of Walcott.

RVP - Out
Walcott - Out
Chamakh - Out

Giroud - In
Podolski - In
????? - In

Tbf, I would prefer Park over Chamakh. At least Park is an unknown quantity who always played well when given the chance albeit very limited.
User avatar

mavelous (Forum Member) on July 10th, 2012, 9:51 pm

that's harsh on park.. unlike a certain ronaldo lookalike, park can actually shoot shoot the ball, not to mention on target and with power, from distance, and with poise of a top finisher.

that alone is reason enough
User avatar

iced22 (Forum Member) on July 11th, 2012, 1:29 am

Can anybody really claim to know whether Park is a bust or not based on 3 games?

I'm cool with him being third choice behind Podolski and Giroud. Obviously no RVP, but better depth than last season.

@simonafc: Kicker report: Lewandowski has to make his decision (sign/leave) before the end of May. Arsenal and Chelsea ready to bid.

Numerous other tweets/reports.
Possible £30million man?

Not as good as people make out from what I've seen of him, I think Dortmund's system and the quality of the players around him make him look better than he really is.

Better than Giroud though, certainly.
