http://www.express.co.uk/football/view/ ... van-PersieBeing touted as a replacement for RVP, although Chelsea have been sniffing around and i doubt we could outbid them. Our interest looks minimal at the moment and it's probably just speculation due to RVP's recent comments but something could eventually develop.
Haven't seen him play much personally but looks like he's a huge talent, thoughts?

As you say, I suspect this is just the usual media trick of:
1. Who are a team rumoured to be losing/getting rid of.
2. What players in that position are rumoured to be considering leaving or wanted by another team.
3. Link team from point 1 to player from point 2. After all, based on a monkey/typewriter/Shakespeare principle, it might actually turn out to be right in the end.
I don't think there are credible links out there, but hey, I wouldn't mind hearing about him either...

Would be a good signing, but would we pay 25m for a single player and, unless we are going to change our attacking system, how do Podolski, Giroud, Walcott and Jovetic all fit into the starting line up.
I can't imagine any of those wanting to sit on the bench too long.
Saying that, this is the sort of signing we should expect as a minimum if RVP does leave.

I do think Giroud is a great signing and will be a very good player for us but im hoping the intention of his purchase was to be played as second choice as well as along with Van Persie. Now with him likely to be leaving, not buying another first choice striker can be seen as a downgrade on our intended attacking options. Another thing is that Jovetic (If the rumours are true), Podolski and Giroud all may need time to acclimatise to the EPL and the three of them rotating as a striker and on the wings seems great in my opinion.

This has been my concern since we bought Giroud,
I don't think he was bought to play alongside, or cover, for RVP, I think he was always going to be the main striker and that we might buy cover for him.
I hope I am wrong, but I can't see us splashing out 10m for Giroud and then 25m on Jovetic, in the same transfer window, it would be very un-Wenger like.
What you say about our new signings adjusting to playing in the EPL makes perfect sense, unfortunately, if you look back over recent seasons, this doesn't happen at our club.
If we signed Jovetic and another decent quality player, like M'Vila, it would be the first transfer window for ages where would have players coming in that out weigh, in terms of quality, the outgoing players.
Although I can't see it happening

They really are. It's only the punch drunk fans of a football club, reeling from the loss of one of their key players, that would lap this sort of rubbish up.

Well maybe but supposedly we bid for him on deadline day last year, if that's true we might well be in for him.
He could play at CAM or on the wing

Think this one might have something to it, we wanted him last summer and Chamakh is continually linked to Fiorentina. I can't say I know much about the player or whether he is any good though.

This would be a good signing as because he can play CAM, we will be able to ease Wilshere back in and eventually push him into his more preferred position, and for 15million plus Chamack, it will be good business.

Wouldn't mind him here at all, but not as a Van Persie replacement.

One of the best young forwards in Europe. Captain of his club, as well. Reminds me a bit of a bigger Carlos Tevez.

I think people mean Jovetic isn't a number nine he's more of a player who will play behind the striker. In the free role or out-wide. So when people are saying he wouldn't be RvP's replacement they mean Jovetic wouldn't be playing as the alone striker. Which RvP does for us.

Dodgy translation, ahoy:
The British tabloids are now convinced. Stevan Jovetic joined Arsenal in the viewfinder. The club Arsène Wenger, in fact, you almost certainly will sell Robin Van Persie for a figure close to 30 million euros, and then dive on the Montenegrin Fiorentina, putting on the plate the whole amount collected from Van Persie and maybe something more. For this reason, we read in the Corriere dello Sport Stadium, the manager of the player, Fali Ramadani, was recently in London to test the ground, also reports Firenzeviola.it.
http://www.tuttomercatoweb.com/?action=read&id=367122But the gist of it is the agent was in London for talks. I'm not yet convinced...

Jovetic in London today according to Twitter rumours. Wenger had said an advantageous offer for Chamakh was made by his club Fiorentina. This looks promising and will be the marquee no10 signing we've been looking for if it comes off

If this turns out to be true you've got to believe that Walcott is off too, else there's no way Wenger would go for someone like Jovetic as we clearly already have RVP's replacement in Giroud.
That aside, you really cannot help but like the idea of a front 3 of Podolski, Giroud & Jovetic.

Don't know why, but i always had a feeling with Jovetić that he is a bit overrated and would flop here, work rate also questionable.
But since i only seen him on a couple of occasions i would really like if someone who knows him better could paint me a picture of how good he actually is. What are his pros and cons and who would u compare him to? Thanks!
