Arsenal have have registered their interest in signing Santos attacking midfielder Ganso.
The Brazilian international, 22, has reportedly turned down a contract extension and wants to move to a European club.
Ganso is part owned by investment company DIS, who recently stated that the player ’will not play for Santos again’.
With Jack Wilshere unlikely to return to action before September and likely to be treated with the utmost caution, Arsenal are looking to bring in a creative midfielder.
Senior scouts are set to run the rule over the left footed player during the forthcoming Olympic games before making their move.
Arsenal have approached Santos, as well as the players’ lawyer, but have not yet made an offer for the player.

North Bank usually knows his stuff. All he's said is that we've approached the club, which sounds pretty reasonable to me.

Seems like its a rehash of futbol_mercados initial story.

Third party involved(Company DIS)- massive stumbling block if we were to make a move.

well in all fairness we were pretty strongly linked with those two. Just because we didn't sign them didn't mean we weren't interested. Don't think you're ever gonna get a completely 100% source, where all the links will come true, especially with a manager as fickle as Wenger.
A good signing, he needs a career resurrection and Wenger might give him that. came across a good article about him recently...

But then again, with Chelsea signing Oscar, Man U signing Lucas, it kinda feels like we're getting Curly...
or in modern context...Chloe Kardashian

I think he talks as much nonsense as the next guy
Almost spot on with the Cahill rumour tbf. We were interested and lodged a bid, that has been confirmed by the Bolton chairman. We also had a bid rejected for Jagielka which was confirmed by the BBC.

edit:As for Ganso rumour, I think it's bollocks(mainly due to third party being involved), for this reason I'd be surprised if we make move.

Ganso is not nearly the prospective talent he used to be anyway. For the money it would take to bring him here, I'd rather strengthen the squad with 2 or 3 other players.

Seems he has had some bad injury troubles but remains a talented playmaker-glad to see the link as we do need that CAM to bolster our attack.

If the article up there is to be believe he wouldn't be as much as previously though. I have never seen him play. I have seen a couple of clips of masterful passes that only a player of a certain quality could do.
Looks exciting, his injury problems sound a worry. Anyone watch Santos?

This isn't happening and I'm not too fussed. Would prefer an older European based player that can come in and perform straight away. Ganso will need a few years to find his game in England, and let's be honest, with his hype train, he'll probably do a Hleb/Nasri on us when he begins to shine.
P.s.. I don't think I consider any Arsenal Blogger "reliable" at this time of the year, full of **** the lot of them.

No thanks. Bit overrated, and he's too slow for the Premier League. This kid was made for Serie A really. Belhanda would be a much better investment imo.
Besides, a lot of Brazillian attackers usually struggle to adapt here because the amount of space and the pace of the game is so different here. Only one that I can think of in recent years that I was impressed with was Elano, and he spent 3 seasons at Shakhtar and also played in European comps. Robinho also started well but faded.

I can understand us being interested in Ganso, especially right now. He is definitely a talented, but his form has dipped due to injuries. However, I see no harm in looking at a talented player during the olympics to see how he looks.
He has had issues dealing with closer marking and a faster pace game, but that doesn't mean that he won't be able to do it. He'll definitely have to take some time to get used to the Premier League, but most players take half a season to get used to the pace of the game in England and Arsenal's type of play. One thing that Ganso has going for him is that he is pretty big for an AM. He's 6'0", so once he hits the gym he should be able to cope with the physicality of the game.
If Ganso has a good Olympics I'd have nothing against signing him. We may have a bunch of AMs, but not one of them should be considered as our starter, so adding a big talent in that position is a good idea.

that's the thing though, he's not supposed to be a typical brazilian that struggles in epl. well, he's got the vision, intelligence and the passing technique, with a fair bit of brazilianness in to go with all that..
a certain spaniard was also slow.

Personally would love him or someone of that ilk to come . However his part ownership by some entity would make this deal a bit complicated .

Never been impressed with his pace or agility - always thought prem would be a bad league for him. Not convinced we are in for him.
We do need a playmaker or two though

Never even watched him play tbh. Couldn't be bothered watching Brazil if its not a World Cup because the chances of us signing a star from there is slim at best.

doubt he'l have much involvement in the WC team if he cant up his game, and even if he does, doing it in brazil might not be good enough. if he was shown up on the big stages while at the top of his game in brazil, i cant see much reason to stay/ transfer to internacional.
i think he'd be better off coming to europe, regardless of if its to us. maybe serie or la liga would be better, but i think so many players have been wrote off as "too slow" or "too weak" for the premierleague. the athletic part of the league is focused on too much, just look at how technical players can shine because they have that bit of class.
arteta did it for years at everton and he didnt have ganso's dribbling/close control. cesc was no faster than ganso.
he might like the open game in england, the constant attacking, itd give him more opportunities to do what he does best. look at how alvarez did in italy this year. just because somebody isnt fast or strong doesnt mean they have to shipped to italy or spain. he could have been a hit here, maybe not, but itd rather take a technical player and hope he can add the physical side to his game than take a brute and hope you can teach him how to play.

He is a player worth a risk at low a transfer fee. At the price mentioned, u should get an established player or an amazing talent. Ganso is neither. Pass.

He wasn't you know. He wasn't a Walcott but he could not be described as slow. I am assuming you are referring to Cesc.

How does Ganso compare to Hernanes for those that have seen a lot of both?

Hernanes would be better for us than Ganso. Ganso's too lazy , poor workrate ..makes Denilson look like Gattuso.

Really surprised how few of you want Ganso — Wenger is quality at taking huge talents who haven't quite fulfilled their potential for cheap and molding them into stars.
