MOTD thread

Thought we could have a thread on MOTD, where we can discuss the [sarcasm]brilliant analysis from the likes of Shearer and Hansen here.[/sarcasm]

Yaya (Forum Member) on August 17th, 2012, 12:25 pm

Harry Redknapp is joining MOTD.

Oh for **** sake, hopefully Harry and Mick are only on MOTD2!

Le Professeur (Forum Member) on August 17th, 2012, 12:28 pm

Harry Redknapp and Mick McCarthy to appear on #MOTD alongside Alan Hansen and Alan Shearer throughout the season. #bbc

Alan "the defence was at fault for that goal" Hansen

Mark "your not allowed to even touch the player like you were in my day" Lawrenson

Alan "I don't no anything about footballers in foreign leagues" Shearer

The only decent pundit was Lee Dixon, unbiased and knowledgeable.

Hansen and Lawrenson can't stand us since we beat them to the league title at their ground, Lawrenson can barely hide is hatred of us.

Illusion (Trusted Member) on August 17th, 2012, 1:10 pm

Well it's good to see that the BBC haven't learnt anything from their excellent Olympic coverage and are going to continue catering to the lowest common denominator with their football coverage.

Expect more xenophobic anti-Arsenal opinions and a whole bunch of ignoring anything bad that any English player does.

Lineker, Hansen, Lawrenson and Redknapp all on the same show? Yikes.

GDeep (Forum Member) on August 17th, 2012, 6:33 pm

Haven't watched the show in years, find it boring compared to some of the stuff Sky Sports has on offer. MOTD 2 is good viewing on a Sunday evening though.

I used to find Hansen and Lawrenson held the show back tbh, same dull/boring guys saying the same drivel every season, Shearer is dull too, compare these guys to the Sky crew - Redknapp, Gullit, Souness, Neville etc, no contest. BBC should have given Lee Dixon a more prominent role on MOTD, freshen things up, he instead left for ITV.

Think il make more of an effort to catch MOTD this season if Redknapp is going to be on it though, have a soft spot for him.

Expecting us to be last on every week now. Christ, what did they bring 'Arry into the fold for? His insight into keeping Finances in check (and away from the HMRC)

Dixon is on ITV now isnt he? Has Keown stayed or has the stink driven him off?

Joe Cole...that's a name I'd forgotten. It was interesting to see him coming on for Liverpool

Oh yes, the team that finished highest of all teams that played today is the last one to be shown.

To be fair, they go on goals, do MOTD. I can't stand Alan Shearer, ******* bald ****! What a negative wanker.

glaveror (Forum Member) on August 19th, 2012, 10:38 am

Lol I have to say I enjoy to watch MOTD but simply because of the chance to see summary of all the games.
As for their analysis-blah,never even paying attention to it, just as I do with most of the pundits to be honest.

They do it on most interesting match tbf, our one was pretty drab. If they did it on positions that would be unfair on the lower teams

It's just best games first, there just happened to be some pretty damn good games yesterday.

After the Olympics, I've vowed to never listen to Lineker ever again. The mute button is going to take a fcking hammering this season. It'll be worth it.

Who are the pundits for tonight's MOTD?
User avatar

Vinci (Forum Member) on August 19th, 2012, 10:41 pm

Mark Lawrenson and Jason Roberts.
User avatar

Yaya (Forum Member) on August 19th, 2012, 10:55 pm

Meh, not going to bother watching it.

Robbie Savage has always had it in for us, but hes gone a step further by now declaring we arent a big club...

Im pretty sure he doesnt watch any of our games just sees the final score and makes analysis from there

Oh ye and the way hes always banging on about our defense, especially during last season when most of our defenders were injured

Martin Keown made him look an idiot after one of our games last season.
I don't know why he gets work as a pundit, he would be better suited as a model for womens shampoo.

I can't remember much about it but it was a couple of seasons ago and they were standing on the pitch being interviewed after a game, when Savage started criticising us unfairly.
Keown seemed to take offence to this and calmly and rather articulately put Savage in his place.

I think a couple of other posters remarked on it at the time.

Keown, and Dixon as well, are two of the best pundits that are ex Arsenal players who are not overly biased towards us.
But as I've said before, for what ever reason, Savage and especially Lawrenson, can barely hide their dislike for us.

GDeep (Forum Member) on August 23rd, 2012, 7:14 pm

I think you guys take Savage too seriously tbh, he likes to wind up - and not only Gooners. Its people like the bitter Alan Hansen who really me turn me off.
User avatar

MaestroCesc (Forum Member) on August 23rd, 2012, 7:34 pm

Yeah i agree, annoying that Dixon never got upgraded from Motd2 to Motd, he speaks so much sense compared to Lawrenson/Shearer. Now he has made the switch to ITV which have so many adverts the pundits never have enough time to do much analysis. Keown is also very good
User avatar

jones (Forum Member) on August 23rd, 2012, 7:40 pm

Agreed, Savage probably has ADD or something, don't pay too much attention to him.

People like Hansen or Chiles get on my nerves far more, the ***** need a good smack in the face every now and then to come down to earth imo.
