Mirror and Goal.com links should seriously not be considered viable links.
How does this even make sense? He doesn't fit what Wenger wants in any way.
Horrendous passer, just signed a new contract, gets yellow carded for fun and is just a massive downgrade on Song.
He'd also cost WAY too much when you consider the time of the transfer window and the club he's playing for. Newcastle don't need to sell, they've got no replacement for him and he's got 5-6 years left on his contract.
Seriously, these sites will write anything to get pageviews. It's disgusting.

Haven't seen too much of him tbh, but we need experienced players from the EPL and I think this something which he would bring with him. Also looked good in some matches I watched.

Wenger faces a battle to get either Tiote or M'Biwa. Both club owners will be very difficult to negotiate with and there' s only a week left. I can envision a situation where Wenger says " we tried but couldn't make it happen. But we have Diaby who is like a new signing..."

I'm off the same opinion as this bloke;
AFC @WheeLer_AFC
Wenger was talking about signing a player if he has "special talent." And I'm sorry, but Cheik Tiote most certainly doesn't.
Loses the ball too easily and is reckless in the tackle. His passion and ability to strike a ball is really his only "special" attributes, not what we need to be honest.
But then again I've not seen him as much as others, maybe he really is worth it?

No, no, no!
This guy is definately not "special" in any way possible. Not for £12m+ ... i would consider a guy like him for £5-6m. As said, he has glaring weaknesses in distributing the ball which doesnt click into our philosophy. He gives away too many fouls. And he is off to ACN.
Next, please! (Capoue, M'Vila)

Thought he was younger than 26. I'm not his biggest fan but he won't need an adaption period.
I'm hot and cold on tiote.

Personally I rate him very, very highly. His passing may be horrendous (not that I think it is anyway) but if Wenger can get Alex Song a move to Barcelona then he can work his magic on Tiote. Song couldn't trap a bag of cement when he first arrived.
If we want someone imposing to sit in front of the back four, mop up all day long and give our more talented players the platform to express themselves, then I think Tiote is our man.
Can see why he's not everyone's cup of tea though.

Would much prefer his midfield partner Cabaye. I like Tiote but he's technically weak. He'd probably cost a lot more than he's worth.
Anyway i don't think there is anything in this.

He was injured people, move on!!
Seriously if Wenger is looking (which he isn't most likely) for this kind of midfielder then why not just stick with Frimpong, he's as effective and ferocious defensively and we can still work on his passing and discipline.

Agreed, too expensive, not enough ability on the ball.

Song was a teenager though, Tiote is 26. As well as that I don't think Wenger wants that type of player. He's not a bad player by any means but for the money he'd cost he'd want to add real quality to our first team and i don't think Tiote would do that.

We should have learnt by now that nothing coming out of Wenger's mouth can be trusted. He said the same thing last year about special players and then brings in Park.
It is glaringly obvious that we are lacking enough quality in the squad, yet as a fan I have no faith in adequate players coming in. Its just what we are used to as Arsenal fans, and its a real shame.

Not good enough, I'd be seriously surprised if Wenger splashes the cash on such a technically poor player.

European football is full of cheap African guys who can give you what Tiote does - Annan, Kaja etc.
I thought Tiote was young too, 21ish, he ain't too impressive for a 26 year old.

The recent clamor for Dembele and Tiote is giving me nightmares every night.
I never thought the day would come when I would actually appreciate Diaby and take him over a prospective signing.

I'd hope that Frimpong would have a few more attributes to his name at the same age = pass.

Frimpong and Coquelin are better footballers to be fair.
Tiote would offer that defensive beast that some people are after, but he wouldn't contribute much else, he's also very undisciplined. My dads a toon fan, and he's forever pissed off at the amount of cards Tiote gathers through stupid/rash challenges.
I wouldn't beleive this link anyway, papers are just going to start linking us to any DM who is a starter at a half decent team at this point

People are underrating Tiote massively here. That guy is an amazing DM and cover loads of ground. He can definitely pass decently. Some of you guys have been clamouring for a true DM and this guy is twice better than Yann Mvila at that.

Song won possession 160 times last season, second only to Fellaini. That is hard to replace, and someone like Sahin just won't do that. A Tiote is more what we need.

Me may be too limited for us, but as a pure hard working and committed DM, he'd be a good choice.
However, Cabaye would perhaps suit us better, while we're at raiding Newcastle.
