Tomaš Rosicky - does he have a place at Arsenal?

Camel (Forum Member) on September 10th, 2012, 8:52 pm

Didn't find a topic about him even while googling, the only one in the lobby. Looks like he's forgotten by everyone.

I feel sorry for Rosicky, after bad injury, being played out of position he finally found form and rejuvenated himself last season. I'll never forget how he played and goal against 5pu2s. Tomas played vital role in our run for the third place.

But with the arrival of Cazorla and how Santi hit the ground running, it's hard to see a place for Rosicky. Looks like he will be on the bench, because Cazorla plays in the hole and we have abundance of wingers. And I don't want to see him on the wing.

Good player and humble person, he is really unlucky at Arsenal.

He's 32 and is a valuable squad player. He's got everything to his game except end product. I'm sure he'll get lots of matches. He's probably only behind Cazorla.

Think he will accept his role as backup and I'm happy he's still here. Can see him being used outwide for the odd game or two.

I feel sympathy towards him. When he arrived, he had the world at his feet and in his position he was one of the best players on the planet, in my opinion.

However, we all know about his injuries and that he had a rejuvenated spell at the back end of last season but to be fair, I don't see where his games will come. With Cazorla tearing up the league for fun and the impending return of Wilshere. Add to that the fact that we still have Arshavin here currently.

His chances are definately limited this year, I think. Not that I am happy with that mind.

If he still has the pace he showed during his great spell last season, I think he can do a job on the wing and as Santi's back-up.

Judging on last season he will be put best to cover midfield, he was making good tackles last year so can cover any of the midfield 3 when were ahead or players need to rest.

He'll feature for sure, be great to have him in cup games as well, with Arshavin, Santo's, Rosicky we'll have some nice experience for the CC run to play with the junior outfit.

What KY 'said.' There aren't any player threads in AT, unless they discuss a particular facet of a player or his career. e.g. 'Will Miyaichi make it at Arsenal?' Player threads are only around in the Lobby and are often locked in AT.

One of my favorite Arsenal players when fit.

Santi won't play every game, so Rosicky will get games providing Wilshere isn't no2 as our CAM. I always really like him, he always puts in a shift, technically excellent, just missed pace at times.

How about this for some tica taca possession fun:

......Diaby...Arteta
.........Rosicky
Wilshere..........Cazorla
.........Podolski

That's because we did away with individual player threads. Fine to start one on him, but you'll need to add something to the title and have a forceful and clear opening post (yours is fine/good, just tie in the title with your main angle; e.g. 'TR: The Forgotten Man?', 'TR: Where Does He Fit In?', 'TR: Cheque Please'. OK, ignore the last one, but you get the idea). As you can see, off-topicness etc. has already crept in.

Edit: Superb.

It's strange not to have player topics. So we create numerous threads about same player, while it can be discussed in one? Anyway, I changed my title.

And where do you see position of Rosicky? While Cazorla can play on the wing, I prefer him behind the striker. Rosicky is wasted playing winger.

More so Cazorla-Wilshere than Rosicky tbh. But will be interesing to see how Santi links up with Arshavin and Rosicky shoud they pay together for a few games.

Wilshere - Arteta
Cazorla - Rosicky - Arshavin

Would be cool to see that midfield vs a weaker team at home.

both in the middle when looking for a goal maybe?

or injuries...

Diaby gets an injury Rosicky might come in. Arteta, Rosicky, Cazorla would be something to see although maybe not the most defensive...

That would be one of the most experienced midfields we've had in ages. And Rosicky isn't one to shy away from getting stuck in so I really can see it working.

Come to think of it, the amount of talent we have in midfield is quite astonishing: Cazorla, Wilshere, Arteta, Diaby, Rosicky, Chamberlain, Arshavin (when he can be arsed)...

Tomas will always have a place at arsenal, be it in the squad or as part of the coaching team.

Wenger loves him, he is supposedly a great influence on the younger players, provides great cover now that hes gotten over the injury/poor form after them, and loves the club, so much so that he took a large wage cut just to stay instead of F'ing off to Turkey or Russia for the claw wedge.

He actually appreciates the fact that we stuck by him during his injuries, unlike Robin. He'l be here for a long long time.

Why are we questioning his place? I don't understand this thread... It's quite clear the guy has never complained about his position (as a back up) and willing to fight for a place when fit.
Rosicky can play across the midfield from the wing (albeit less effective) to CM/CAM/B2B, and willing to sit on the bench..

Or this thread was created cause of his age problem that any Arsenal player over 30 should be sold?

I'm not asking for your opinion on player threads or the lack thereof, I'm simply telling you how it is. And thanks for adding to the title.

His performances during the second half of last season has earned him his spot in the squad. I wasn't a fan of him at all, and tbh I'm still pretty sceptical of what he brings to the team, but someone who performs like he did towards the end of last season is exactly what we need in the squad. Every player in our 25 man squad isn't going to be a world beater and I'd be comfortable with players like Rosicky coming in and doing a job.

I can easily see Ramsey and Coq ahead of him, but he's an useful squad player for the midfield, and happy to be one.

I think he could do a job for us on the wings, similar to how we used Benayoun against the bigger teams in the run in to the end of last season.

Decent pace, great touch, good final ball and at times last year was the only midfielder pressing the opposition.

I wouldn't mind giving him a run at RW while we try and figure out who we are going to stick with there.

Yup agree about right wing that would allow us to function in a similar way to
Fab and Nasri .

I know he'll always put in a shift and he still has some spark about him. I think at this point he's probably happy as a squad player so I think he's perfect right now.

i want us to replicate the busquets - xavi - iniesta when rosicky is back. cazorla the catalyst, rosicky the controller, dictating tempo.. shall i say, dictator?

Rosicky and Cazorla together? Rosicky on the wings? Rosicky AM and Cazorla and Arshavin on the wings?

All these suggested here  . Interlull too long.

Rosicky - if he does indeed return like second half of last season - has a place in the team as Santi's back up (at least until we see how Jack returns and how he's used; how Ox fits that; or if Arsène opts for Shava in that role, which I hardly believe). But playing him AM and sending Santi to the flank is not a great idea - Santi can make use of our real wingers, can upgrade the entire team.

That we have a few problems with our wingers doesn't mean we need to force it, as with the different Rosicky suggestions.

He has quickly become one of the most overrated Arsenal players amongst fans. He played well for a few games last season and suddenly all the useless performances that he gave for the past few years didn't matter. The guy is injury prone, and has no end product. I'm happy with him having a minimal role, but having Rosicky in an important role is not what Arsenal need right now.

Personally I think he will be get games wide right as no-one appears to be performing in that position and his ball skills will aid retention which seems to be the way we are going in playing style at the moment.

He'll get games across the top as a rotation player regardless.
