This man deserves his own thread. What a great performance against the galacticos in an amazing game. All the people that said he wouldnt make it here can go **** themselves. Hard. He improves with every game and its good to see Wenger rewarding him with a dream start. Once he learns how to actually strike a ball, hell be even better than Pires was four years ago... With players like Henry and Pires around, he has to learn how to shoot. Once that happens, the skys the limit for him. Im really delighted with his current form and I hope he continues to develop. Theres no doubt in my mind that he has the potential to be a world class playmaker. He has great vision, awareness and pace that the best playmakers dont even possess (Bergkamp, Zidane, Riquelme). Once the shooting comes along, he is a professional footballer for christs sake he must know how to shoot, its game over....

I just cannot agree with anyone saying that he doesnt know how to shoot.
Its impossible. That guy is the best footballer of his country [albeit Belarus]

If Hleb could regularly score goals, he'd be the best player in the world...he's that good. He showed the doubters and haters just why exactly we signed him and what makes him special, he had a great game and really made the midfield click. He never quits running, can track back and defend, is tough as nails, and as offensively gifted with the ball at his feet as anyone you can name...what else can you ask for? Once he gains that second nature understanding with Henry, Reyes, Freddie, Cesc etc. you can forget about it because he's going to explode onto the world scene and really make his presence known. I'm just glad he's starting to vindicate people like me who harped about him so much when we bought him lol.

He's definately worth the 8 mill... Some of the moves he made today made my jaw drop! He can be a complete player once he starts shooting because he does everything else. He even tracks back... The best thing about him is hes going to get alot better. In 3 or 4 years he can be one of the best players in the world.

just as martin tyler said during the game when he put his shot slightly wide - he is not a natural finisher. lets hope he can get more confidence
when shooting then he'll be a formidable player.
however his ball control skills are really exceptional and cant quite remember another arsenal player with the same ability - Liam Brady maybe?

Do we really need another thread on him?
I've been saying for months he needs more games, and how the injury he suffered knocked him out of his stride. He's now put in two great games against Real. His first touch and his on the ball skills are just crazy.
He even outpaced Carlos down the touchline last night.

It's quite strange because everything else in his game is there apart from his confidence in his shooting. His close control is amazing, you could see that even when he was settling in and not playing very well early this season.
He along with a few others last night, proved that Wenger has unearthed another few gems. I also have faith in Senderos, I've got a lot of time for that fella. Sure he makes mistakes but he gets stuck in and really tries every game. I think given time he'll develop into a really great defender and f**k Mark Lawrenson for giving him unjustified flack before kick off last night on Radio 5.
If I had a dog with a face like Mark Lawrenson, i'd shave it's arse and make it walk up the hill backward

Funny you made that comparison with Brady. Once I read it I had the image of Liam's ungainly way of running with the ball. i hope Hleb can emulate his true greatness in the annals of the Arsenal histroy book.

Lmmmao. Pre-Fulham match, half the people here would have had him shipped back to Germany, now he's Zidane's successor. How times change...
Does anyone have the link to that video of him at Stuttgart? If someone could direct me to it, it would be much appreciated.

The good thing is that he's still only 25 !
Next season we'll see the best of him.. He needs to work on his vision and decision making, but it'll come in time.

Have you paid attention that Hleb's best part was after he wasn't subbed? Hleb was ready to leave, but Arsène took Reyes, and Hleb just made a show afterwards, being happy. That's about confidence....

Hleb needs to show more consistency and he'll make the right wing his place.
Remember, we were all wanting to ship Lehman back to germany too but look at him now! Player form can vary to be honest - I still miss the time when Freddie and Bergkamp were almost godlike in our league winning streaks.

hope this proves to all of us that form is temporary and class is permanent. its a pity it took this long, but it was well worth the wait. now even wenger doesnt want to offer pires the 2 yr deal he wants. Arsène KNOWS, my GOD. he really does. astute signings. the world doubted him when he stressed belief in his side. thanks Arsène, we owe you. its nights like this that show who you really are. hleb is fantastic!!!!!!!!!!1

Short of Zidane and well ronaldinho.don't know anyone as comfortable with the ball as him. His vision is good..but can be improved but that is a quality players who fits our styl inside out. Been saying all along no need for the little dortmund fella..cause we have hleb..and he will be good for us. The shooting well he will never be a clinical finisher..it really comes with the territory..he is always pass first shoot last option. Takes a lot to changet that attitude..but as long as he is assisting am fine..we have a lot of goal scorers.

I gave this guy loads of stick early in the season (and he deserved it becasue he was ****) but in the last few weeks he has really come on.
Last night he was magic. His skill running with the ball really is something else.

I cant find the link at the moment, but im sure someone will remember that when we had just purchased Hleb, he claimed that "he" was the missing link in Arsenal's European Campaign. He may just turn on to be correct, I hope. So far he is certainly playing exceptionally well in our champions league matches.

Standard Hleb AM reply:
Great at the start.
**** injury.
Not recovered form after injury.
Not played in the team enough.
Looks better.
Looks even better.
Till last night when he was fan-fooking-tastic.
A very special player.
