Buffon eyes England move Italian keeper could leave Juventus after another poor season
Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has alerted a host of Premier League clubs by revealing that he would consider a move to England at the end of the season.
Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal have all been linked with the world's most expensive goalkeeper, who has become disillusioned at the Serie A side after they failed to qualify for the Champions League.
The Italy international, who joined Juve from Parma for £32million in 2001, is under contract at the Stadio Olimpico for another three years, but could be tempted to leave in the summer.
Buffon said: "If I had to leave, I think England would be my destination.
"My desire to leave Juve is equal to that of Juve's will to have me leave.
"At this time there is nothing [to discuss] but there are two weeks to go [before the end of the season] and anything can happen.
"Juve always has the priority and we will see if we will decide for our paths to continue together."
Now this is the type of name I like seeing in this forum!

Van Der Sar just signed a one year extension, so I'm guessing they wouldn't replace him while he's doing so well.
All the pieces fit, but there's no way I believe Wenger would splash this much cash.
Well, I know this isn't really realistic. But out of the reported english clubs intrested in him, Man Utd has signed a new contract with Van Der Sar and Buffon has recently slated Man City. So he's obviously going to Arsenal
“It doesn't surprise me that a lot of big players have turned down Manchester City. The best players in the world want to playing for the top teams in the top three Leagues, no more than five or six teams in Europe.
“It's a very elite list and Manchester City have to accept the fact they are not one of them.
“I read that City were interested in me last summer. I don't know if anything was tabled, but there is no way I could have considered it.
“I couldn't justify leaving one of Europe's most famous clubs for a team that are not playing football at the highest level.
“City have some fantastic players but if they want to go up to the next level and sign even better players then they must claim a Champions League spot this year.”
This would be a massive statement and true signal of intent. It would reassure the likes of Arshavin, Cesc and Robin, that we mean business. It would solve the ongoing keeper issue. It would invigorate the fans, and such like...
Could be an incredible signing for whoever does sign him if he can stay fit. If he's injury prone, could be a win-win for Arsène, because Fabianski would still get some playing time
He will cost at least 25m. Will Wenger spend that amount of money on a goalkeeper? Abosuletly no chance! His most expensive goalkeeper was Flappianski.
i would love this to happen and think that it would reinvigorate the fans and players alike. wenger will never sign him though. would 'kill' too many youngsters surely...
I like Gigi Buffon, but I would rather our 20 million pound signing (if Wenger made such a mistake) were someone who could influence play, particularly in the middle or a wide forward. I want a goalkeeper, but believe we can get someone much better than Almunia for about 10 million pounds.

Agreed whole heartedly.
Our whole squad still need tweakings, especially in defensive mid, and central defence.

Err...no.
Anyone that thinks Buffon has lost it hasn't watched Juventus any time recently. His performances against Caligari, Inter and Bari recently have all been top, top class. He started the season in fantastic form as well (even though he was playing injured), the more he played through the injury the worse his form got. He's back to his best now though.
As for him being injury prone, he's supposedly over that now.

I wouldn't want to swap Cesc or van Persie for Buffon, but I would swap Sagna for Buffon if I'm honest. There aren't many keepers in the world who are as good as him.
We don't necessarily need an extraordinary goalkeeper, like Buffon. I wouldn't swap Sagna for him, because there aren't many right-backs of his level available. If we'll swap Buffon for Sagna, we won't replace him with Maicon or Sergio Ramos and we'll most probably, end-up with an unproven player like Azpilicueta. GK's like Joe Hart, Frey, Neuer, Adler or even Diego Lopez would be cheaper, they won't demand big wages and we'll have a very good GK and an excellent right-back in Sagna.
