Following Jack Wilshere’s recent impressive performances for England as the midfielder at the base of diamond, it was touted that perhaps the 22-year-old could carry out the same role for Arsenal, especially given the Gunners’ weakness in that area.

Wilshere revealed recently that Arsene Wenger and himself had discussed his new role for the Three Lions and that led to speculation that Le Professeur had blocked any desire of Jack’s to perform the defensive-midfield duty for Arsenal.

Speaking to the Evening Standard, Wilshere refuted those claims saying:

“No it didn’t happen like that,”

“He actually asked me about the role and we spoke about it. He never said to me that I couldn’t play that role for Arsenal and I never said to him ‘I want to play that role for Arsenal’.

“The boss is one who has always believed in me and he knows my game better than anyone so I am confident with where he wants me to play. I have played in many positions – I have played down the wing for Arsenal. I am confident that the boss is going to put me in my best position that is going to suit the formation and help the team.”

Personally, I’m not so sure of Jack’s qualities as a defensive-midfielder, however, given our current struggles and particular weaknesses in the deeper midfield positions, is there any harm in trying? Let us know your thoughts below!

For me I think that the coach should just leave the club.
He has done a lot for the club.So let him go with honor.

Any trial that led to failure will draw criticism from everybody especially the journalists who will write different articles with blames. Wenger should be responsible for his decisions on Wilshere.

Give him a chance bt he should release balls in time.
