When Danny Welbeck limped off the pitch against Estonia at the weekend, Arsenal fans thought “surely not him too!?” Arsenal is no stranger to the injury plague with 8 first team players already down so far this season. Arteta and Ramsey joined Giroud and Debuchy as well as other who were already injured before the break, and it now seemed that Welbeck would join Ozil and Koscielny as players who were injured while on international duty.

Welbeck appeared to have turned his ankle against Estonia and had to be replaced by Rickie Lambert in the 80th minute. He looked to be in real discomfort and went straight down the tunnel. Arsenal fans feared the worst, but England manager Roy Hodgson has moved to allay any fears.

“I don’t think he’s injured,” he said. “He just rolled his ankle slightly. The doctors are not worried about it.”

A massive relief for gooners and we hope Welbeck will be back and firing against Hull on Saturday. He looked sharp in England’s first two Euro 16 qualifiers and looks to be really coming into his own.

He is a man with a point to prove and has a massive opportunity to do so as Arsenal’s only fit centre forward at the movement.
