I am in no way comparing Jose Callejon to Luis Suarez. The two are on completely different wavelengths and their respective goalscoring tallies will tell you all you need to know. I am however suggesting that a change of scenery just might rejuvenate Callejon and lift him to the next level. I am also suggesting that he could go on a goalscoring tear and have a Suarez-esque effect on Arsenal.

Arsenal’s reported interest in the player is good news for the club, and although I don’t think forwards should be the club’s main priority, he could be useful is Giroud and Sanogo are still injured by January.

Reports say Callejon is eager to leave Italy in January with his agent offering his services to various clubs. Napoli is allegedly ready to sell for £15.9 million. That would be quite a cut price for the Real Madrid academy graduate who is reported to be unsettled. Napoli have endured an indifferent start to the season, sitting 7th in the Serie A and having failed to qualify for the group stages of the Champions League. He apparently wanted a move in the summer but was blocked by Rafa Benitez.

Like Welbeck, he has had to play second fiddle to bigger name forwards for most of his career, if not being casted on the wing so a chance to play as the main forward would appeal to him. He has the pace and movement to cause defenses real trouble and always could find the back of the net. He should be a descent addition to the side should he join (still a unsure of the validity of these reports).

This is of course the last of Arsenal’s concerns at the moment, but just keep in mind that you heard it hear first!
