Francis Coquelin spoke today about his thriving partnership with Santi Cazorla in the heart of Arsenal’s midfield, saying the two clicked instantly and hailed his colleague’s quality.

“It is easy to play alongside Santi because he is such a great player,” he told Arsenal’s official website. “We had a good chemistry last season, but there are many great players at this club that we can all play with each other.”

“That is the great thing about this squad; anyone can play and we can still get a result.”

“Last season with Santi was something special because we got a lot of praise, but the most important thing is that no matter who plays, we can get the result.”

Cazorla made the switch last season following the arrival of Alexis Sanchez, and has thrived in his deeper role. Coquelin emerged from the shadows, returning to the fold from loan after being out casted from the first team picture. It is an unlikely partnership that formed and blossomed, with the pair earning high praise for their performances.

Is it Arsenal’s best though? Many would make a case for Aaron Ramsey, who was out with injury during the time the Cazorla-Coquelin partnership came together. He had to settle for a role on the wing as Wenger sought to keep the pairing intact, but some impressive showings in his favourite position in pre-season saw him in contention once more.

Jack Wilshere will return once again and give the manager something else to think about, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain impressed in that role as well during his few run outs in the position. If reports are to be believed, Sevilla man Grzegorz Krychowiak could join as well and throw yet another wrench in the equation.

At the moment, Coquelin’s aggression mixed with Cazorla’s silk bode perfectly and will take quite some undoing, so it will be interesting to see how Wenger handles that position when all of his options are available. What do you think gooners? Is this the best centre midfield partnership available to Wenger at the moment?

Not yet we stell need one

Yeah. Except you didn’t get a result with Ramsey alongside you against WestHam, did you? Santi and Coq is the best partnership. Le Coq can break up play and Santi can dictate our passing.

Yeah, another big match tonight against the perennial biggies in EPL. Liverpool is regarded as the standard on which many teams are judged no matter what you may hear from some. Its therefore, important that we win tonight. They are also armed to the hilt. Lets hope we do well tonight. I hope Giroud has a fantastic game because this boy get so much stick unnecessarily. I mean 44 goals in 99 games is decent by any comparison? Have you noted how Coquelin has started striking fear in many measured by the complaints aired? I heard some who claim he should have been sent off at Crystal Palace. Then I start thinking: Does Matic, or anyone elsewhere in a decent club do any less?
