Most of the ramblings from the Arsenal camp lately has been about the impressive depth in the squad. Arsenal have enjoyed a near perfect pre-season campaign, one in which featured nearly three different XIs, and while the importance of preseason and particularly yesterday’s win will be debated, it bodes well for the season ahead.

It is worth pointing out that Arsenal played without their most influential player in Alexis Sanchez yesterday.

It is a fact often overlooked due to Diego Costa’s absence from Chelsea. Considering the fact that the likes of Jack Wilshere, Tomas Rosicky, Calum Chambers, Danny Welbeck, and Mathieu Flamini weren’t even in the match day team, and this just may be Wenger’s best ever squad.

Per Mertesacker spoke about it yesterday, saying Wenger will have tough choices to make every week and that there will be plenty of disappointment. Such is normal at life at a big club, but further analyses shows that this just may be the squad Wenger has dreamed of.

Not only is it packed in terms of quantity, Wenger has different tactical options at his disposal as well. Andrew Mangan from ESPN FC brilliantly points out that the players are available to Wenger to combat whatever tactical wrench is thrown at him.

Walcott vs Giroud in centre forward will depend on who the opposition is and how they set up to defend, as the two offer distinctly different traits. He could even play the two together at times, something he really hasn’t the luxury of doing for quite some time (with success at least.)

The same goes for Bellerin vs Debuchy at right back and Coquelin vs Arteta in the middle of the park. The likes of Cazorla, Ramsey, and Chamberlain will all get their chances both centrally and out wide most likely, while Welbeck and Sanchez will duel it out with Walcott and Giroud.

Not only does Wenger have the depth to combat injuries and fatigue, but the capability to rotate accordingly. It will increase competition but also provide each player with a niche.

What do you think gooners? Is this Wenger’s best and deepest squad ever?

yeah brah I’m excited for this year. Arsenal were looking very good this pre-season and in the Community Shield. Still can’t believe Cech is in goal for us, he brings that safe feeling in the back that the Gunners have been missing for so long.

If there are no major injuries to key players this year, and maybe a top class striker as class as Ozil and Sanchez this transfer window or in January… and I think Arsenal might be up for a title challenge. Can’t wait to see how they’ll do.

Amazing to see Arsenal playing with a calm and confident movement as if they have Vieira and Bergkamp somewhere amidst them. They even a cheek to outplay Cesc and his mates by back-heeling and passing backward and forward a la Barcelona completely unconcerned that this is Chelsea the team that won the league with 12 points above us. It was bizzarre because I too was calm like never before. As of what Wenger did afterwards, I think he is only human and therefore get fed up now and then. I am still buzzing.
