Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny thinks that the Gunners squad are still behind Arsene Wenger despite recent setbacks.

The heavy 5-1 loss to Bayern Munich in the first leg of the Champions League knockout round tie last week, has led to many Arsenal fans questioning whether Wenger should continue as manager beyond the end of the season.

The Frenchman’s contract expires in the summer, and although the club have offered the Gunners boss a two year extension, he has yet to decide on whether to put pen to paper to continue as manager. Speaking in an interview with RMC Sport, Koscielny said the players must take responsibility for the club’s current predicament:

“I think the group is always receptive to Arsene Wenger’s message. The coach is there to prepare the players physically, tactically and put an organisation on the field, after that it is up to the players to do what is needed on the pitch to win the matches.”

Arsenal are currently ten points behind leaders Chelsea in the Premier League, and won’t play again until Saturday week because of Southampton’s participation in the EFL Cup final on Sunday against Manchester United. They face Liverpool next and then Bayern Munich three days later.
