Arsenal new boy Petr Cech has dominated the headlines over the past week following his sensational move from London rivals Chelsea. As expected, a transfer of this magnitude will do its rounds in the media, with different sources scrambling for interviews and exclusives.

The player’s latest remarks will have gooners grinning from ear to ear, with Cech saying he believes his new club can challenge for the title. Speaking to Sky Sports, the Czech Republic stopper had this to say:

“I wanted to choose the best option for myself in a football way and Arsenal showed me they really wanted me to join.”

“I spoke to Arsene Wenger and he presented me with a project I believe I want to be part of. Obviously it is a new challenge for me.”

He continued, saying the Premier league is the best competition in the world and that he could not turn down the chance to join a top competitor.

“Once I got the offer from the Premier League and from a team who will challenge for titles and try to improve in the Champions League and try to win everything, it matched my personal motivation.”

“Having won two FA Cups, it’s a first step and clearly shows the team has the potential to win trophies. Last season, the run Arsenal had in the Premier League from the start of the new year was absolutely brilliant.”

“It showed a lot of promise and I believe the team has the potential to challenge for the top places with all the teams like Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool.”

Music to gooners ears this is, and the Arsenal faithful is just as happy to have Cech as he is to be hear. Let’s hope Wenger adds a few more reinforcements so that Cech can lift the trophy come May.
