Gilberto, No. 19

Profile

Gilberto

Gilberto's importance to Arsenal's attacking style is now without dispute. His ability to mop up in front of Arsenal's back four allows Cesc the freedom to push forward and orchestrate Arsenal's play.

It was not always this way however - Gilberto had his fair share of critics when he initially joined the club, but he lifted his performances last season (taking on the captain's armband in the absence of Thierry Henry) and acted as a mentor for his young colleagues.

It was a stinging blow to be overlooked for the club captaincy this season, but true to form, expect Gilberto to get back to work and let his performances do the talking.
