Lauren, No. 12

Profile

Lauren

Lauren was missing for a large chunk of last season through a knee injury and returned to find he was no longer first choice. Lauren was transferred to Portsmouth in January 2007 as his place had been taken by the rapidly improving Emmnuel Eboue and Justin Hoyte.

Lauren was signed by Arsène Wenger in 2000 from Real Mallorca as cover in midfield and defence. However, he quickly found himself as Arsenal's first choice right-back, a position he still holds today. After some initial shakiness during the first few times he played in the position, the Cameroonian really grew into the role.

Lauren is one player who will never shirk a challenge. As an avid amateur boxer, Lauren will always stand up for his teammates and never backs down. He has now retired from international football.
