Philippe Senderos, No. 6

Profile

Philippe Senderos

After a blistering start to his Arsenal career, Philippe Senderos has come back down to earth somewhat - and is no longer first choice in Arsenal's defence.

Senderos broke into the Arsenal team at the end of the 2004/05 season, keeping Sol Campbell out of the side and prompting the England defender to leave the club for greener pastures. Senderos went on to formi a formidable partnership with Kolo Touré, helping Arsenal the Champions League final in 2006.

His greatest asset is his innate ability to read the game. Oftentimes, he has been criticised for lacking pace and strength, but when paired with Kolo Touré, each defender complements the other. However he seems to have become more erratic of late and will need to gain some consistency in order to reach the top level of the game.
